Breeze Cycles is having a 1:30 ride from their store to ? with refreshments
afterwords. They usually have a good ride and it may be one of our best last
ride days.

The 250s have been like that all year.  4 wide into hairpins, half a dozen lead
changes a lap..  GOOD STUFF

and I see where Ben ended up 4th on today's time charts.  Only riders ahed of
him were Lorenzo, Rossi, and Stoner.  I think Pedrosa is testing new parts.  I
read HRC has switched suspensions as well as electronics so they have a lot of
work to do

Wow, you weren't kidding about the 250 race! I haven't really been able to
follow them the whole year, but that last one was cool. It will be interesting
to see what the new class will be like next year.

On the other end of the spectrum - AMA/DMG, what a yawn. Schedule is out, but no
Miller, Laguna, or Topeka.

I had the Tiger loaded for bear - just fun to say that, this weekend had my
camping gear and head out with the metro dual sport guys ( does this KLR seat
make my butt look big?) and got passed bringing up the rear by a KLR -it good I
have and ego big enough to handle that.  so I wick it up a little more - 40mph -
when I come around a corner and see the carnage ahead - Kathy discovering the
joys of dumping ur ride in the thick stuff.  It was like potting soil at Lanahs
nursery - I was up to my floorboards (well I don't have em, but if I did), the
boots were dragging so the dirt was that high. So its probably 2 feet but to
tell a good story - it was 6 feet deep if it was an inch.

I saw Kathy in the deep tank tracks and waited for the good samaritans to get
her back on the road.  I followed a diffeent track and made it through.

I figured after that it was time to find my Columbus clan  and do the adventure
tour that will find pie and campgrounds.

Hooked up easily with Mike and Jim - how many Tigers and ulysses do u see on a
fall day in the hills.

We immediatly went searching for pie and found some at Granny's with pie as
well.  One of the specials was ham/bean soup - in hindsight(yes thats funny),
perhaps beans are not a good prep for camping - we did a nice recreation of
Blazin Saddles at the campfire - but I was scared cause I have never heard that
kind of gurgeling cept when there are aliens comming up out of the drain trap. 
I know what happens in the campground is supposed to stay there - but I almost
called 911 and a gastroendofixeruppper for my camping compadre.  I didn't figure
a well person could make those noises while still telling stories about when
they were young!

We had a run earlier in the day on a fall apart pavement road that had 6 young
ladies on horseback - it was looking like Broke Back mtn Part II - but I had to
slow down as I passed them cause the horses were running and acting spooked . 
(I think it was the BUell).  But when I passed the lead chick - her big Palameno
spooked and turned sideways -  as did her horse as well.

We didn't get any offers as once again,  chicks are not interested in old men on
big duallys - unless its pulling a rodeo trailer playing country.

I left the campground in the morn, wet dirt underneath the slick grass, and
fiddeled with my dark sunglasses, as we were heading into the forest and the sun
was not a factor yet,  we had ridden the bikes past the parking lot - and weaved
between the tree stumps as only bikes can do to camp.

But now has I hurdled past the port 0 potti - I noticed that the gate I am about
to go thru - had a large cable strung accross it right at mid tire level.  So I
remembered all my years of experience and training and esclaimed "We are all
going to die" and hit the front brake for a slide, the released then back on it
to come to a complete stop just shy of the cable.  BUt of course the bike is now
reclining on its side and Im rudely thrown off.

Mike helped me pick up the 2thousand pound bike(with my gear) and after
adjusting the mirror and pulling the dirt out - ready to go again.

But cold tent and all, its great to have a fire to ward off the coyotes, rabid
owls, and children of the corn field next door, and the lazer sight on my 9mm
helps to take the chill out of the air too.

Thanks guys.  (:   If I want some adventure and excitement and push my
limits a bit, things like that will happen.  I'm glad it was in the nice
soft mud!   Dale complained (laughingly) yesterday morning that I left a
mess of dirt on the nice clean driveway after washing my bike, my jacket,
and my boots Sunday.

I am envious. I've tried and I just cant do a weekend ride due to work. If
anyone ever wants to get out for a dual sport ride on a Monday or Tuesday, lemme
know. I cant be the guide, not sure where to go...

We were so lucky to have another great weekend and I took advantage of the dry
conditions and beautiful day by going riding in the dirt on my VStrom DL650 with
11 guys!  What a blast!

Mike led us on an awesome route through hills and canyons on many roads that I
would never be able to find again.  It was a bit challenging for me at times. I
went down right at the beginning in some deep, soft ruts that were a little wet
- had a nice soft landing and the bike didn't get hurt.  I need become a better
"rut rider"!  (: Wish I would have thought to get a picture at the time.  There
were plenty of ruts the rest of the day, but I was lucky enough to avoid most of
them, or ride through the right way.

Finished up with a little over 150 miles, a few sore muscles (my arms), and a
big smile on my face.  Didn't take many pictures, but there are a few which I've
uploaded to the site under Loess Hills Dirt.
