All,
Both trails are rated 4wd Easy and can easily be done in a stock 4x4
Xterra. If you are looking to try out wheeling in the Sierras then
this trip is for you.
More info and sign-up can be found in the Sour Grass/Corral Hollow thread.

All,
This will be a day trip to Eagle Lakes located off HWY 80. More info
and sign-up can be found in the "Sunday May 22" thread. BTW, this will
be a great trip for stockers and 1st timers to get a feel for wheeling
in the snow.

For our Nov run Akio has steped up once again and planed a great
camping trip to a trail in Red Bluff, CA.
Date: November 13th & 14th
Elevation: Approx. 2,000 ft - 3,300 ft.
This trail is ranked in just about the middle of the moderate trails.
The easiest of the Moderate trails is Eagle Peak, which a stock
Xterra w/ step rails has no problem. And, the difficult side of
Moderate trails is Bear Valley Loop, which did require a stock Xterra
to take off flaps and rails.... So, I think that Peligreen Jeepway
would require a stock 4x4 Xterra to take off your flaps and
steprails, but that should be it....of course, with careful driving
is a must, anyway... This trail should be perfect for those who want
to go camping/off-roading in your stock Xterras, and I'm sure those
w/ modified Xterra would have a great time as well.
There is a (very) primitive camp site almost half way of the trail:
Black Oak Grove Camp Ground. This is likely to be our camping spot.
more info on this run can be found on the NCCX section of the XOC
message board:

All,
This month we have two trips; one stock friendly and the other for
modified Xterras. Both are being sponsored by Akio and you can
contact him for further details (ay54x4@...).
------------------------------------------------------------------
Trip 1
[stock friendly]
Eagle Peak Trail
Date: October 9th (Sat.) *This is a day trip
Duration: 1 Day
Difficulty: Moderate
Date: Oct 9, 2004 (Sat).
Location: Northeast of Sonora, Pinecrest and Strawberry off of Hwy 108
Trail Condition: It does require 4Lo for some places & about 20
degrees off camber at a couple places.
Vehicles: Any SUV... You can join even if you drive 2wd Xterra. We'll
help you get up, so don't worry.
If you're looking for a trail run that is very challenging, this run
is not it for you. If you want to put it into 4Hi/4Lo, enjoy a stress-
free, great scenic trail, this is it. Both George and I have 32"
tires and susp. lift, and we had a great time running this trail.
Trip Details:
Meeting Place: McDonald's at Santa Rita Exit off of I-580 in
Pleasanton @ 7 am.
Lunch & Snack Shopping: Park N Save in Sonora @ 9:30 - 10:00 am
Trail head: 11:00 am
more info can be found here:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Trip 2
[for modified trucks]
Hell Hole
Dates: October 23rd & 24th (this is a camping trip)
Location: Northeast of Auburn and Foresthill, west of Lake Tahoe
Difficulty: Difficult. Narrow and steep with challenging rock ledges.
Not for stock vehicles. High ground clearance, large tires and at
least one locker recommended. help is a long way off. Don't go alone.
Features: A long drive to a short, but terrific hardcore trail. Ends
at a very secluded spot along the shores of little-used, but very
impressive, Hell Hole Reservoir. Makes a great weekend trip if you
camp overnight and fish. Take bug repellent in the summer.
Time & Distance: Trail is only 4.0 miles long. Allow 1 to 2 hours
each way depending upon vehicle capability.
Return Trip: Return the way you came.
As you all asked, the choice of the trail for October camping trip is
Hell Hole. This trail is rated a bit more difficult than Deer Valley
trail , and obviously requires larger tires, suspension lift, etc.
If you have driven though Deer Valley w/ only larger tires, and if
you're comfortable, join the trip at your risk.
I chose this trail as a camping trip because of the time & distance
to the trail...plus the hours of day light. I'm not quite sure when
we should be attempting the trail...
October 23rd (Sat)
9 am at McDonald's at Santa Rita Exit off of I-580
11:30 am at Safeway in Rocklin for lunch & grocery shopping
12:30 am in Foresthill
13:30 near Hell Hole reservoir

Well it's that time of the year again! Here's the info I have so far:
Nissan Xterra USA Championship
September 25
Incline Village
Lake Tahoe, CA
It's going to be very similar to last year, highlights include:
-event shirt and goodies
-Xterra contest (with trophies)
-off-road excursion
-lunch provided
Plus much more. Last year there was a climbing wall, Xterra RC cars,
massages, etc...
Janet informed me that the Big Bear event in So. Cal has 30 vehicles
signed up (a new record!). We need to beat that number!!!
I'll post more info as I get it:

the Sieras, but have been turned off by the requirements to run the
trails.
Pardoes, is a scenic trail that is located off HWY 88 starting at the
Bear River Resort and ending at Silver Lake.

Hello all,
CharlieX has informed me of an off-roading trip where we can give
back to our community.
WAMP (http://www.campwamp.org/), is a non-profit organization that
helps children with physical and developmental disabilities such as
Down Syndrome, Autism and Cerebral Palsy enjoy the great outdoors
through a summer camp.
This trip will allow us as club along with other wheeling clubs
(including the Hills Angels in Reno who are organizing the event) to
take these kids on an off-road adventure. The actual trails we will
travel should be easy enough for a stock Xterra to traverse, but to
be safe please remove your stock step-rails and mud flaps if you
still have them. Of course this trip will require 4wheel drive (sorry
2wd members).
The date for the event will be Aug. 22nd (a Sunday) and we need to
meet the group at 9am. There are plans in the works to organize a
trip to a camp site on Sat to place us close to the meeting spot at
Hawley Lake.
One thing to definately keep in mind is that we will be giving rides
to kids so please allow for room to carry a few kids and wheel chairs
and as always be safe.
More info on the event can be fond here:

Monday, 7pm
June 7th
In-N-Out
1159 N. Rengstorff Ave.
Mountain View, CA
So I'm thinking of doing a begginer's run up HWY4 for Sat, 5/22. This
is a stock friendly run with the only requirement being 4x4 only.
It's recommended that stock trucks remove their mud flaps and step
rails, but not neccessary.
We will be running atleast two trails; Sour Grass
(http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CA-4/index.shtml) and Corral Hollow
(http://www.californiajeeper.com/corralhollow/review.htm) if the snow
level is within reason. There are quite a few other fire roads that
we can run if there is time.
I'll post meeting spots as soon as I can get an idea of who is
comming and from where, but for now I'm thinking of meeting at the
Pleasanton McDonalds at 9am and then in Angels Camp by 11:30 or 12.
This will be a great run for those learning to wheel their Xterra and
wanting something more than just Hollister. So if you are interested,
please sign-up.

It's that time of the year again. Time to get warmed up for the new
season. The snow is still quite thick up in the Sierras and I'm not a
huge fan of snow wheelin. So why not hit up Hollister for a quick fix?
This will be a good trip for any unexperienced off-roaders that would
like to get out and learn a few things about the sport. So if you
haven't had a chance to put your Xterra in 4lo and really test the
truck's ability, Sun would be perfect for you.
The plan will be to meet at the Obsticle Course between 11am and 1pm.
I'll be BBQing for lunch there in case anyone wants to join us. We
will then do some trails and hang out about the park.
More info on Hollister can be found here:

Come out and have some mad cow with us.

BTW, anyone on the East/North Bay wanting to set something up this
month?
It's next tues (01/20), sorry about the confusion.
Tuesday 01/20
7pm
In-N-Out
MaCarthy Ranch
50 Ranch Dr.
Milpitas, CA 95035
Come out and meet the gang.
Hi everyone,
This is a reminder for the Hollister trip for next weekend (Dec. 14).
Just a few quick reminders and some more info…
There aren't any caravanning spots for this trip. Just meet at the
park. Again the meeting spot is at the 4x4 obstacle course between
11am and 12pm. Just go to the ranger station, pay your $4 and
continue down the road to the GREEN gate. From there use your map
(they are free at the ranger station) and make your way to the
obstacle course.
Although the club is meeting at 11, feel free to arrive as early as
you like and play around at the park. Just monitor CB 14 and/or FRS 8
in case there are other members out and about. MV (Ruger1022) will be
there Sat and Sun incase you can't make Sunday, but would like to
have some fun at the park on Sat. I'd just suggest getting in contact
with him if you would like to join him.
Again we will be using CB channel 14 and FRS 8, so if you arrive at
the park late and can't find us just raise us on your CB or FRS. More
than likely we will just be using FRS most of the time though.
If you need more info on Hollister or need directions to the park go
here http://www.hollisterhills.com
If you would like to join the event, but haven't signed up, please do
so soon here
http://www.xterraownersclub.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?
ubb=get_topic;f=13;t=000747
One last note, everyone is welcome to come and go as they like, but
we are also going to do dinner in the town of Hollister after if you
can join us. Dinner location and time will be determined on the day
of the event.
Thanks everyone!

Hey guys and gals, our next club trip will be at Hollister on Dec
14th (weather permitting).
We will be using CB channel 14 and FRS channel 8 (I will follow up
with a sub-code once I know everyone has them). The meeting spot will
be the 4x4 obstacle course at 11am –12pm. Caravan meeting spots to
follow.
Hollister is a great place for new club members to experience off-
roading in a controlled environment and meet other club members as
well. This is a stock friendly run with a recommendation that stock
vehicles remove their factory step rails and lower mud flaps, though
not absolutely necessary, there have been a few torn mud flaps and
bent rails.
As always we will do a quick 101 on 4wheeling at the obstacle course
for those that are new to the sport and then will continue on to run
green and blue trails. From there we will possibly tackle a few black
diamonds for the experienced or adventurous types.
For more info on Hollister go to http://www.hollisterhills.com/
directions to the park can be found on the website also.
