All,
This month we have two trips; one stock friendly and the other for
modified Xterras. Both are being sponsored by Akio and you can
contact him for further details (

------------------------------------------------------------------
Trip 1
[stock friendly]
Eagle Peak Trail
Date: October 9th (Sat.) *This is a day trip
Duration: 1 Day
Difficulty: Moderate
Date: Oct 9, 2004 (Sat).
Location: Northeast of Sonora, Pinecrest and Strawberry off of Hwy 108
Trail Condition: It does require 4Lo for some places & about 20
degrees off camber at a couple places.
Vehicles: Any SUV... You can join even if you drive 2wd Xterra. We'll
help you get up, so don't worry.
If you're looking for a trail run that is very challenging, this run
is not it for you. If you want to put it into 4Hi/4Lo, enjoy a stress-
free, great scenic trail, this is it. Both George and I have 32"
tires and susp. lift, and we had a great time running this trail.
Trip Details:
Meeting Place: McDonald's at Santa Rita Exit off of I-580 in
Pleasanton @ 7 am.
Lunch & Snack Shopping: Park N Save in Sonora @ 9:30 - 10:00 am
Trail head: 11:00 am

Trip 2
[for modified trucks]
Hell Hole
Dates: October 23rd & 24th (this is a camping trip)
Location: Northeast of Auburn and Foresthill, west of Lake Tahoe
Difficulty: Difficult. Narrow and steep with challenging rock ledges.
Not for stock vehicles. High ground clearance, large tires and at
least one locker recommended. help is a long way off. Don't go alone.
Features: A long drive to a short, but terrific hardcore trail. Ends
at a very secluded spot along the shores of little-used, but very
impressive, Hell Hole Reservoir. Makes a great weekend trip if you
camp overnight and fish. Take bug repellent in the summer.
Time & Distance: Trail is only 4.0 miles long. Allow 1 to 2 hours
each way depending upon vehicle capability.
Return Trip: Return the way you came.
As you all asked, the choice of the trail for October camping trip is
Hell Hole. This trail is rated a bit more difficult than Deer Valley
trail , and obviously requires larger tires, suspension lift, etc.
If you have driven though Deer Valley w/ only larger tires, and if
you're comfortable, join the trip at your risk.
I chose this trail as a camping trip because of the time & distance
to the trail...plus the hours of day light. I'm not quite sure when
we should be attempting the trail...
October 23rd (Sat)
9 am at McDonald's at Santa Rita Exit off of I-580
11:30 am at Safeway in Rocklin for lunch & grocery shopping
12:30 am in Foresthill
13:30 near Hell Hole reservoir
