Not sure how high the axle and tranny breathers go, or are they required with the torque tubes?  Still learning this design myself.

What about engine electronics (distributor, etc.)?

Some of the 404 had a Mercedes diesel. That, in my opinion, is the only way to safely cross or run in high water. The diesel is not affected unless the water...
