I haven't done a Weber swap, but I did do a carb swap. Used a Ford
carb, off an F-150. I think if you look back in the archives here,
there is a posting about this swap. I ran that carb for almost two
years. Never had a single problem with it. Do a search for "Autolite
2100" or "BBD replacement"

how's this?
It's a 78 CJ5 with about 14 inches of lift (springover, springs, and
shackles), 38 inch tsl-sx swampers, detroit lockers front and rear,
summit axle shafts, 304 with 7000 miles on it, edelbrock performer
intake and carb, mild cam, had a valve job, hedmann headers. New tub
made from 1/8th plate steel, new paint, full cage, flat fendered, 1/4
inch rock sliders. Other small stuff, like rhino lined interior. $3000
It's listed at MN-jeep.com

I got a winch and a wench...just don't tell my wife. I think I'll put

Happy New year all!! Its about 2:16 am the first (early) moring of
the new year, 2006 already, God where has the yrs gone?? seemed like
forever to get to that magic 18th birthday then from there its a fast
ride, speaking of rides, I spent my New Years eve afternoon, and a
good part of the evening (finished about 12:15am) putting a 3" lift
in my 87 XJ. It had all new suspension put in last summer, new coils,
new leafs, shocks, steering stabilizer, so I just got the add a leaf
cause mine were good, new coils, and taller shocks. She sits and
rides beautiful, took a lil spin after I finished cause I hadn't had
a drop to drink tonight and wasn't worried about the "increased DWI
inforcement". Next comes some Mickey Thompson radial Baja Claw 31's,
I've talked to quite alot of Jeep people and most have said, 31's
with the 3:73 ratio should be a sweet spot for daily driver and
decent wheeling, I have the factory towing pkg with Dana 44 rear and
30 front with 3:73 gearing ratio, NP 242 transfer, AW4 automatic
transmission w/power/comfort modes. Future upgrades include :New
charcoal paint job,(this spring by brother) Warn front bumper with
wench, Warn rock rails, full skid plates, roof rack, H I D lighting,
slip yoke eleminaitor kit, CB, quick disconnects, Detroit lockers
front and back (after I get a Dana 44 for front axel) Atlas transfer
case, (by then I may wanna lift it another 3" lol.
I took a couple of pix today just before I started and I'll take some
more in the next week or 2 and get them posted.(not that anyone cares
or will notice, not much action in this group). It sits and rides
awsome now but the new tires will be here in about 2 weeks, 235/15's
on it now, I rolled 1 of my buddys 31's up next to it after the lift,
should get a lil taller.
can't wait to see it with the Mickeys!!!
Heres wishing everyone a happy prosperous and healthy New Year!!!!

I'm new to Jeep ownership ( well not really, I had a 76 cj waaaay
back when I was still wet behind the ears and didn't have the smarts
or money to do anything with) I have had 4wds on and off most of my
life but I recently purchased an 87xj from a friend who took
excellent care if it, its nothing special, all stock except rims.
Anyway, I've finally reached that stage in life where I have a lil
more time and a lil more $ to add another toy to the toybox, I'm a
snowmobiler and motorcyclist also. I'm going to build up my new toy
(mildly) 3"-3.5" lift, rockcrawler rims, larger tires, new bumpers
w/wench, of course skids all the way, rock rails, racks, and a few
other lil goodies. I'm starting to order parts now but probably won't
start till spring as I've garaged my new F-150 4x4 for now and am
going to use the jeep as my winter daily driver. I'll take some pix
before I get started and all through the process once started and
post them here incase anyones interested. I'd also like to maybe
check out the possibility of getting whoever would be interested in
getting together our own lil Jeep jamborie here in Mn? I know of some
great spots in the Cuyuna Range near Crosby for wheeling and camping,
and I'm sure many of you know some great places aswell?? If anyones
interested just let me know.

Liz, before you put it on the block, how about finding out if it
will run? I'm not exactly sure I understood...do you have the new
starter and flywheel, and they need to be installed, or they are
installed? Maybe we can put together a few people to come take a
shot at making it run for you. Email me at rick90yj@...
First...sorry for the multiple group posting, for those of you who
get this twice....
Hi. As much as I regret doing it, I am thinking I will have to put
my '83 Scrambler on the "auction block". It needs a lot done to it,
at least in my mind, and i know I won't have the funds to do it for a
number of years now (too many medical bills to pay first). I'd love
to be able to keep it and fix it up. I'd planned on driving it until
i couldn't climb into it anymore... it has a lot of memories from
just being the daily driver while the kids were little, but I don't
know how I can. I don't have the knowledge, tools, or time, much less
the money.
Anyway.... if anyone is interested in taking a look... see what it
needs (I really don't know)and giving me an honest offer (or a
sugestion of how i can keep it), I'd be interested in hearing from
you.I hate to see it rust into the ground, and it has been about 6
1/2 years since it last ran... it needed a starter and flywheel
(which I got), as well as some other work...(now I'm sure it needs
even more from just sitting), I was due to pop my third child and so
I'd outgrown the
seating capacity anyway if i brought my "then" hubby along.
I am in Shorewood, Mn. on the south side of Lake Minnetonka near
Hwy.7 and Hwy.41
Liz
Firt, cad you gide helb be fide by dose? LOL
Second, I need to get the leaf spring setup out of the front of the
Jeep. I'll most likely look into using F-150 or Bronco coil buckets,
and if that won't work, I'll have to fab something. I'll run the
corporate 20 until I break it, I guess. Then I'll probably look for
a Ford 9" or GM 10 bolt with the same bolt pattern and WMS-WMS as the
front. I've been checking with Ford guys on the front axle and mods
to do to beef it up, and have found some interesting stuff. With the
two radius arms, they wrist one (so, it pivots on one side) and use
heim joints or johnny joints to get the flex in the other one. And,
the track bar is critical that it be mounted as close to horizontal
as possible. I'll probably flip the tie rod to the top on each
knuckle, just to help correct the lifting. I'm not rushing this,
mainly so I won't have to do it over again soon. I figure by doing
it AFTER I gather the parts, will save me a lot of headaches.
