Posted a picture of when I first bought it in the group photo section
(Jeepsterdave - Jeep for sale). I don't have a current photo yet but
will try to get one added before the end of the week.
Chrome bumpers and steps are badly rusted. Windshiled is cracked (go
figure) Rear tires are bald.
Originally from Texas, but did my last trails in New Mexico & Colorado.

Howdy !
Where ya from?
The MN DNR has a tag for your license plate, and, I've heard there are
a couple of OHV parks in the north-central.

I'm in the same boat as Will and Annie. I'm new to Minnesota, moved
up from Albuquerque which has some of the best rock crawling trails
I've seen. So what kind of offroading is around here? I would love
to join in on the next jeep run or learn of some trails. Thanks!!

Hi everyone!
My name is Kevin and I'd like to say hi to everyone. I currently own a 74 Cj5,
99 Ranger 4x4
and a 98 Explorer 4x4. If you check out my photos, you can see my old 77 F-150
and 97
Cherokee. I pretty much do all my own work. I just bought a welder last winter
and that's the
new thing I'm trying to master.
Please feel free to email me or message me anytime. I love to talk cars (by that
i mean 4x4's!)
and am always looking for new contacts/friends in the 4x4 world for ideas,
trading tech help,
parts connections and just talking cars or outdoors. I appreciate advice from
people and
don't mind sharing my .02 when I can.
Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you!
Kevin
I will 2nd that welcome and add HAPPY 4 WHEELING IN THE SNOW!

I wish I had the means to fix it up and get it back on the road, but
I
don't. I can't tell you much about it other than it has been sitting
outside for almost 10 years ever since we needed seating for 5.
I don't think the frame is rusted beyond hope, nor the body/tub. I
might be wrong. It will need some welding or ? as well as some
parts replaced.
The tires have been periodically topped up with air.
It has a full soft-top (needs rear window repair and attention to the
zippers) and I had aircraft insulation panels made for the interior
which made it very quiet and kept the heat in nicely.
I believe the engine was rebored? and is a 305 not a 258. It has a T-
5
transmission. The starter was replaced but the new ring gear has not
been installed yet and is still in the box.
There is also a set of add-a-leaf springs.
Plus there are two sets of soft doors that came with the current roof
as well as the first one. It had solid doors on it now.
The seats are in good shape...both front and rear.
It is not running and would need to be hauled on a trailer or flatbed.
I am asking $700. or best offer. I need to have it go soon, like
while
we don't have to move snow to get at it.
Thanks.

Alright, so the 4" Skyjacker lift isn't too much more expensive than the 2.5"
lift, so I figured that I might as well go for it. I'm starting at zero, so why
not? I might as well do it now if ever. I also picked up some hockey pucks for a
body lift, maybe two per mounting point.
I kind of assumed that I'd need to lengthen some brake lines and cables. Any
ideas, suggestions or criticism?

This is a loaded question...
If you install a body lift, you'll definitely have to lower the fan
shroud. Possibly the shift linkage, but I didn't when I lifted mine.
I only added a 1" body lift. More than an inch, and you'll have to do
something with the steering column, if I'm not mistaken. If you add a
lfit kit to the suspension, then you have to do more...you'll have to
lower the t-case ro get it in alignment with the rear axle, to
prevent vibration from the driveshaft. You'll possibly have to do
something to correct the steering, also. I'm not real well versed in
that part, so maybe somebody else can fill in the blanks there. I
guess if you gave some more specifics about what you're planning, it
might make this easier.

Or am I just being foolish? It seems that there are some parts that
are not available for my CJ(belts, right now). I cannot find V-Belts
for my Buick 225 V6 anywhere. Any help with these smaller parts?
Alright. So this is my first 4x4 project and, now that it's in my
yard, I may have been a bit over zealous this time.
It's a 1971 CJ-5 with the Buick Dauntless 225 V6, t14 transmission.
I'm in the process of stripping it down to asses everything it
needs...which is a lot. If anyone has any parts resources it'd be
appreciated.
So far...engine is seized, sheet metal for front of cab, needs new
carburetor, new tires, new clutch and clutch linkage, new brakes all
around, basic tune-up stuff and a real thorough cleaning....then we'll
see if the transmission and 4x4 and electrical work out.
Entertaining the idea of an engine and transmission swap as well as a
switch over to 4-wheel disc brakes and power steering. Suggestions?
Comments? Insults?
I'm looking forward to hearing everyones experiences on their rebuilds
and trail rides.
Welcome the two newest members to the group...if you're looking for
places to go wheeling, check the links area and find the MN-Jeep link
and check the "TRAIL RIDES" forum there. You'll probably want to join
that group also.
Hello, all! My wife just bought me a 2004 Grand Cherokee Special
Edition, and I'm really excited! My Jeep is my daily driver, so I
probably won't take it off-road (on purpose, anyway) - we need this one
to last for a good long while. My brother-in-law has a 1992 GC that he
still drives (250K+ miles), and I'm hoping to get the same kind of
reliability and longevity from mine. I'm interested in hearing about
your experiences, and things to watch out for as a Jeep owner. Any and
all comments or suggestions are welcome; thanks!
There are basically no trails in the metro area...probably only a few
in the whole state. If you check out this link:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/minnesotajeepclub/message/683
and look up the trail ride section, it can direct you to some closeby
wheeling. The member there named GIMPY is from Dresser, WI and he has
a few events planned for this summer, over by Dresser.

I live west of Minneapolis in farm country and I want to know if anyone
knows of any good trails or legal places to check out how the jeep
handles. I just bought a 2006 Jeep Wrangler last summer and this id my
first one. Just want to have some fun without destroying my jeep since
I need it to get to work.
Hello~
This year I will once again be participating in the American Cancer Society’s
Relay For Life® in South St. Paul. Relay For Life® is a 12-hour walk that will
be held on August 11th starting at 7 p.m. and going until Saturday morning at 7
a.m. It is an overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise
money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, help those who have been
touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back against this disease.
During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and
take turns walking or running laps. Each team keeps at least one team member on
the track at all times. I am the team captain for our church’s youth group and
we will be raising money to help in the fight against cancer.
More than one million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. One of
them could be someone you know. This past year someone very close to me was
diagnosed with cancer—my dad. That’s why I’m asking all of my friends and loved
ones to join me in supporting the Society’s important work. The Society works
every day to prevent cancer and save lives through groundbreaking research,
public education, and better laws that protect people from cancer -- as well as
helping people who are diagnosed with cancer. The Society has already helped
save millions of lives from cancer. If we all join together, we can do even
more.
I feel strongly about eliminating cancer. I hope you can help me with a donation
to this incredible cause. Your support will help people in your community every
day. You can make a secure online contribution from my Personal Donation Page
by clicking on the link below. If you prefer to mail your contribution reply
back to me and I will respond with my address.
Relay is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those
lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people
who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. Relay
gives you the power to help accelerate the Society's advancement toward a future
where cancer doesn't take the lives of our friends and family.
I am also taking donations for luminary bags. A luminary bag is a white paper
lunch bag that is filled with sand and a candle placed inside of it. These bags
are then going to be lining the track and during a special luminary ceremony,
each bag’s candle will be lit and will remain lit until the morning. The
luminaries are purchased in honor or in memory of someone touched by cancer.
Last year while walking around the track I found it amazing to read the names of
those touched by cancer. If you would like to purchase a luminary bag, please
respond to this email or speak to me in person. I will be decorating the bags
and your loved ones name will be on the bag. If you have any questions, please
don’t hesitate to let me know.
If you would forward this email to anyone that you know would be willing to
support the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life—please do so. Your support
is very much appreciated.
Thank you!
April Schneider

I haven't done a Weber swap, but I did do a carb swap. Used a Ford
carb, off an F-150. I think if you look back in the archives here,
there is a posting about this swap. I ran that carb for almost two
years. Never had a single problem with it. Do a search for "Autolite
2100" or "BBD replacement"
