Alright. So this is my first 4x4 project and, now that it's in my
yard, I may have been a bit over zealous this time.
It's a 1971 CJ-5 with the Buick Dauntless 225 V6, t14 transmission.
I'm in the process of stripping it down to asses everything it
needs...which is a lot. If anyone has any parts resources it'd be
appreciated.
So far...engine is seized, sheet metal for front of cab, needs new
carburetor, new tires, new clutch and clutch linkage, new brakes all
around, basic tune-up stuff and a real thorough cleaning....then we'll
see if the transmission and 4x4 and electrical work out.
Entertaining the idea of an engine and transmission swap as well as a
switch over to 4-wheel disc brakes and power steering. Suggestions?
Comments? Insults?
I'm looking forward to hearing everyones experiences on their rebuilds
and trail rides.
