Good Evening Car Buddies,

Well, the season began today. A huge success!
I'm sure all of you who were at the 46th Mendon Dust Off today will agree.
The weather was great, and so were the people.

They ran out of the 450 dash plaques with in the first hour.  We would estimate there were 750+ cars in attendance. Lots of Midwest Kustoms and Rod Benders members were there.

Janet & son Jeff Bricker were there and bought the 1950 yellow ford Little Darlin....Cliffs favorite car.
It was nice to see it out on the road again.

Clayton & Dorothy Stevens were there and brought their 1951 Ford Victoria black with gold scallops and the car is for sale if you are interested in a 51 Ford .
See attached pictures.
Richard Lyons & Bill Crotty, Jay Rantz, Gary Tilly and a numerous amount of other members were there enjoying the show.
It was nice to see many of you there and renew old friendships; as well always,  meet new car people.
We had our two youngest grandchildren with us so we had our hands full, but we had a great time,

This Thursday, will be the first  Howe Cruise In, at the Towne Square Park in Howe, IN
This Thursday will be the first cruise at the Essenhaus in
Middlebury.  This week only, it will be held on the north side of the Inn and Conference Center.

Next Sunday at the St Joseph County Fairgrounds there will be a very good Antique & Collectibles Market from 8:00 - 3:30.
All collector cars, driver and passengers will be given free admission.

Please also note on the list below that Coldwater is a two day event this year.
Friday and Saturday.  New for 2009.

Please don't forget the Club Picnic Saturday May 16
In Marshal Michigan at Stuarts landing.

We look forward to seeing all of you this Car Show season!.

Hello Guys & Gals of the Midwest Kustoms.

Just a reminder...Sunday May 3rd is the Mendon Dust Off
Get that baby out of the garage and come out and cruize on over to the High School in Mendon, Michigan
Show Starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
Get your breakfast, look over the swap meet parts and check out all the beauty's with their paint just a glistning.
Might not be no sunshine, but we can have fun!
Last year was a huge success.
As a member of this great club, each and everyone of us should belly up to the steering wheel and do our part to keep Midwest Kustoms cruisin' down Main Street America in fine cosmetic fashion...

We will see you there

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to touch base with you and let you know whats going on with our good friend and car buddy.
Ken Moull (Kapt Krazy)
Ken has received a Heart Defibrillator Pace Maker
which is great news.
Ken's heart was to weak to undergo the 4 bypass surgery he needed, and the only route they had was to install the Defibrillator and with the right medications, and nutrition with regular monitoring and exercise Ken will be fine.

Ken is going home today from University of Michigan Hospital.

Talk About A Great Easter Present, can't get any better than this.

DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted vertical stabilizer which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could
get to it..

WIRE WHEEL: Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, "Oh sh!#..."

SKILL SAW: A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short.

PLIERS: Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters.

BELT SANDER: An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs.

HACKSAW: One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle. It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes.

VISE-GRIPS: Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.

WELDING GLOVES: Heavy duty leather gloves used to prolong the conduction of intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.

OXYACETYLENE TORCH: Used almost entirely for lighting various flammable objects in your shop on fire. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race.

TABLE SAW: A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity.

E-Z OUT BOLT AND STUD EXTRACTOR: A tool ten times harder than any known drill bit that snaps neatly off in bolt holes thereby ending any possible future use.

BAND SAW: A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge.

TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST: A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect.

CRAFTSMAN 1/2 x 24-INCH SCREWDRIVER: A very large pry bar that inexplicably has an accurately machined screwdriver tip on the end opposite the handle.

PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER: Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads.

STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER: A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws.

PRY BAR: A tool used to crumple the metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50 cent part.

HOSE CUTTER: A tool used to make hoses too short.

HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is
used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

DAMMIT TOOL: Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling 'DAMMIT!' at the top of your lungs.
It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need.

Hi Harold and Eula and the rest of the Midwest Kustoms crew,
It was good to talk to you the other day.  Planning on coming to the February Meeting.  As far membership without a kustom car, I think it is fine, as long as they're enthusiasts.  We were all in that position at one time.  If we want to encourage membership that's a way to bring new blood in.  I know I've been a bit slack at turning up at car shows but I'm looking forward to some this year, as I've completed building my porch.
I submitted the photo of the GREEN '51 Chevy pickup I got back on the road this past summer.  Jeannie and I used it to haul our kayaks around joining two great past-times.
Has anyone out there got a pair of stout, manual scissor window cranks capable of hoisting

the heavy 37"x 12"X 3/16 windows in my Beast ( '47 Ford Kustom).  I'm going to rework the channels, and have ordered a floating channel from Balls Rod & Kustom to see if I can make the Bosch electric power windows work.  Stabilizing the window on the crank tree has been a problem, hence binding.  I'll give it one more shot before going after the manual option.  I turned my rear quarter windows into power windows with the same equipment and they work well.  So if anyone has some ideas or a pair of stout scissor hand window cranks, I'd be interested in talking to you at the February meeting.
Kiwi Dave.

I want one of these!

Here are a few shots of a 1936 Ford Tudor Sedan built for and owned by Allegheny Ludlum Steel.

It was featured in a local parade with over 100 of our salaried, hourly and retired employees walking alongside.
This is 1 of only 4 in existence and is the only one currently in running & in road worthy condition.
The car is in exceptional condition, with the interior and even the frame looking great.
All 4 cars each had over 200,000 miles on them before they removed them from service.

These cars were built for Allegheny as promotional and marketing projects.
The top salesmen each year were given the honor of being able to drive them for one year.
The v-8 engine (max 85 hp) ran like a sewing machine and WAS surprisingly smooth and quite.
I thought this was a much better looking automobile than the Ford Thunderbird that visited us last year.
FYI, the car was insured (we were told) for the trip to Louisville via covered trailer for 1.5 million dollars.

People were told that the dies were ruined by stamping the stainless car parts, making these the last of these cars ever produced.

Dear Friends,
I am sending you an update on our beautiful daughter Jaymie Cornish.

God called our daughter Jaymie to Heaven Saturday November 15 at 7:14 p.m.

Her brain tumors had gotten so huge since the last Chemo and Radiation there was nothing more they could do for her.
Her arteries, capilaries and heart were all clear thanks to the use of Cardio ocktail, just not enough time to help with the massive tumors in her head
She was so precious and never complained abut anything.
When she passed she looked just like the angel she was.
 she was just beautiful.
So sad to give up such a wonderful loving daughter to cancer.

We have her children Vanessa 18, Jaiden 6, and Jasmine 4
She left us these precious children to keep us going as they are part of her .

You can see Jaymie's Obituary at www.legacy.com
Jaymie Cornish search click on Jaymie Cornish and you can view her legacy
and leave a message to the family.

There is no viewing as her wishes were to be cremated.
There is a Memorial Service to Celebrate Jaymie's Life
 Saturday November 29, at 1:00 p.m.
