Dear Midwest Kustomizer,
Spring is finally here and the Spring picnic on May 20 is less than
a month away. Eula has announced the location and given the
directions, but Jeannie and I just want to extend a personal
invitation for y'all to come.
Yes, gas is up high, and most of our kustoms like to guzzle it
rather than sip it, but it is time to shake off the winter blues,
stop worrying about the state of the world, and celebrate our
creations and Spring. Since the gas went up we've been exploring the
low range of the speed limit and finding not just better gas mileage
but also enjoying the driving more.
Come early, stay late. We'll fire up the grill and will have
hamburgers, hotdogs and you'll bring something you want to share.
Eula and Harold, our irrepressible leaders, will spin the platters,
giving us the sounds of our favorite times. Tours are available of
the minimally-equipped shop, that I share with my bud D.Domengoni,
and later in the day, we'll get a bonfire going in my little woods
(well away from the cars). Also, it so happens that fellow club
members, Pinsoneault's, are my immediate neighbors, and they have a
car culture museum, a building devoted to a celebration of the
fifties and car culture in particular. Between us, we can
accommodate all of you and all your cars. Meanwhile, I'm thrashing
to get my '53 Chevy pickup in paint before the 20th. It's a "maybe."
So come celebrate Spring, your creation on wheels, friendship and
good times on the 20th.
