That is how I used to have mine until I got the remote display. I now
use the Frank Potter system; the V1 sits on the back shelf.

Ok, I'm going to ask a really dumb question here. Isn't the odometer a gear
driven device inside the speedometer?? Is it not driven by the same cable
that drives the speedometer??

the tiny memory cards that are used in digital cameras and mp3 players. The
data, once written, remains intact even when there is no power applied. The

the battery out to charge it, and when you put it back in, your recorded

Bah. The old Land Rovers have the bottle opener at the base of the dash,
running the width of the cab. So you don't even need to pull over :)

In your '95 it is, and in my '96 too. But in my wife's 2000 and newer
Miatas, the odometer is digital, and serves as a dual tripmeter as well.
(At least, I THINK it does. Haven't driven it enough to quite figure it

My '99's odo is a LCD. There isn't any cable leading to the speedometer
either.

There were loads of cars up on the Colorado Monument. Clear skies (mostly),
clear desert air and very little ambient light. It was a good show. The
most impressive metor I saw was actually when I was driving up to the
viewing spot - it was right in front of me and highly visible even though I
had the high beams blasting away. Wow.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Dynamat absorbs noise would you not want
to keep this as far away from speakers as possible? It seems like what you
are doing is trying to combat door noise, not improve speaker response. If
Dynamat was a good solution you would find that inside all speaker
enclosures but I have never seen this used (in speaker enclosures).

True, you don't always see dynamat in speaker enclosures, but a car door is
not a proper speaker enclosure. I used dynamat around the door speakers in
my car and it noticeably cleaned up the sound. The dynamat doesn't affect
the speakers at all, it just damps out unwanted vibrations and harmonics in
the door.

Subject: [Miata] 1.6 to 1.8 conversion details
Anyone aware of documented details on all that needs to be addressed to drop
a 1.8 into a 1990 1.6 Miata? I'm not so much looking for the step by step
instructions, as I am the list of all the components that need to be
upgraded along with the 1.8 long block, to make everything work right.
Also, if I intend later add a FM turbo, what other upgrades should be
considered when I do the engine swap?

The Mazda designers must be connoisseurs of the amber nectar - my RX-3
and RX-7, though featuring different latch strikers, could also be used
in the same manner.

+++ The grill of a '58 Chebby works well in a pinch, too.
Although, it tends to deform somewhat resulting in your best
buddy's getting his ass whomped the next morning when his Ol' Man finds
him asleep . . . in the Chebby . . . in the driveway.
Hey, at least he got it home.
Keep the Revs up!
