You are correct that if you double the handle length, the force you exert to get the same reading will be less (if its 1/2 i don't know). But the bottom line...

I had my 120lb girlfriend hang from a 3' pipe that was slid over breaker bar and socket. 120lbs x 3feet = 360 foot lbs. that's all there is to it. girlfriend...
