Toyo T1S is a great choice. The miata is very sensitive to the weight of its wheel/tire combo. the T1's are a great choice because they are only about 33-35...

I don't think the top will be damaged by the sun just because the cover isn't used. The internal part of the top that is exposed when down shouldn't suffer sun...
