Well boys-n-girls as I threatned earlier I now have some pictures of my
finished restoration up in an album on here called Bracewell's type 61. Don't
know what happened the first time I tried to load some but Explorer kind of
crashed right in the middle of it. So now I have 13 shots of a bit of the build
and the finished car.
The race weekend at Blackhawk went very well for a first time out. I has been
a LONG time since I drove a FF in a Skip school. Then my test day at MAM was
rained out. Blackhawk ended up being more of a test weekend, and at that it even
rained out my first half of Friday. First session was just brake bedding. Second
session saw the only issue of the weekend. I had aparently forgot to bend up the
little lock tab on the washer on the Webber shaft. The nut is now in the swamp
up there somewhere and I came in on the rope. Trip to town and a friend's washer
got me back in biz. The rest was just getting used to things. Had a couple of
tiny water leaks that were just a matter of tightening clamps after the initial
use.
Actually the worst thing of the weekend was litterally blowing the rear seal
out of the 4X4 transfer case on my Suburban on the way home. I dissappeared in a
cloud of smoke that would rivaly any NASCAR victory burnout you've ever seen.
Fortunately that didn't leave me in the middle of nowhere. I just hope I didn't
trash any innards.
Later, M.B.
