Sorry you weren't ready for the track
day too. I was the only open-wheeled car there, which meant that
I had the
track all to myself, more or less. I
was all prepared to go out behind the pace car, but at the start of my
second session,
I showed up on the mock grid and the
guy working pit-out insisted that I did not have to do any more paced laps.
(So
I guess I didn't _totally_ embarrass
myself missing several shifts - the Hewland box takes getting used to,
but not as
bad as I had feared.) In fact,
he said that if I didn't get out there and turn some hot laps he was going
to do it for me.
Turns out he used to run a 51 back in
the day, and he said he was "jealous as hell". I had so
much fun that I missed
the checkered flag and did an extra
lap. Oops - now that's somewhat embarrassing.

place medal for the little open wheel group.
Did you get to collect your medal? Some
rascal made off with my first place medal from the table after the banquet.
:-(
I should have raced over there right
away, instead of admiring the Evora.
Cheers,
Ed
