Thanks again for all the help on my steering wheel column. Yes, I looked down
lower on the column, and found the dimmer metal rod had come out of it's seat in
the bright/dimmer switch. I put it in the correct positions and it works
correctly! My only problem now, is the horn doesn't work, and I will have to
realign the steering wheel and parts I believe are above the compression plate.
Not too hard.
Anyway, for all the reading and so many web sites visited, hours and hours, I
now have a sturdey tilt, and a new truns signal cam. I rented the steering
wheel puller and compression tool for free at Auto Zone. The total out of
pocket expense to me has been about $20.00! After all the work and learning, I
could take it apart again, and do it all over in about 2 hours, as opposed to
the 3 days it has taken me to learn about it. I think so many people take this
in to the shop, as it is so complicated. I would suggest if you undertake this,
to try and find anyone who has done it before. Would make it so much easier.
Thanks all!

the worst thing about it, is that there is grease on everything. I have to work
with bare fingers to handle the small parts, and have cleaned my hands so many

before I put it back together again? Thanks so much!

And I apologize for a previous response of mine to your problem never getting
posted, thanks in part to Yahoo, I'm sure.

But in the event you have further problems, you can do a Google search on
General Motors and/or Chrysler
steering columns of that era, all during the 80's and early 90's anyway. Both
companies pretty much used the
same column.

the dimmer switch itself is located further down on the steering column, next to
the ignition switch.

You may be able to remove the dimmer switch and tweek around with the rod from
that end. once you can
feel it working correctly from the lever, then hold it in place while you stab
the end if it back in the switch again,
reinstall the two screws, and you're done.

Thanks for the help regarding my steering wheel tilt. I have found the small
plastic piece fit up against the colum and travels against the metal rod that
pushes the bright/ dim switch for the headlights. It travels in the small tilt
lever cover. Really lame engineering, but I find much more infor about it on a

Johnny., There is two ways to cure this issue. The quckest and is easiest being
get a proportional valve from and xj it has the individual front (left and
right) and a single outlet to the rear brakes. The problem with the comanche
valve is that it has 2 lines to the rear 1 is pressure the other is a return
pressure.  The weight sensing vale that was attached to the rear end has an
inlet and outlet where the pressure comes in and depending on where that valve
is returns the pressure to the master cylinder. you can also solve this problem
by creating a loop( tee of the pressure out line) close to the proportion valve
so it thinks the vale is still there. I used the loop method on mine at first,
but I eventually switched to the xj valve

Hi Again, putting back together my steerin column on my 87, 4.0 , % speed. I
have replaced part of the turn signal cam, and cannot figure out how the
connector between the cam and turn signal lever connects. There is a connecting
piece of metal that screws in the cam, easy enough. However, there is a 1/4
inch stud on the side that connects to the blinker lever and I can't figure out
how it goes into the turn signal assembly? Any help? Thanks!

you definitely have a rear main seal going bad...lucas makes a oil seal stop
leak that really is good...you may slow it down for a while or even stop the
leak...

probably your rear main seal, but it's hard to say without cleaning everything
up and looking for the fresh oil trails. if it is your RMS, there are some tips

Hi all,

Need help figuring out where I am leaking oil from. I get a cloud anytime I
stop fast, the part of the exhaust pipe that crosses under the transmission is
where it drips onto and burns.

I replaced the valve cover gasket and the oil filter adapter gaskets.

Can't really see where the source of the leak is -- everything is oily under
there -- going through a little more than a quart per tank.

Thanks!!

THIS LUDICROUS !!!!!!!

I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT !!!!!

================================================================================\
================

Please continue to pray for our troops

I AM HONORED TO DO THIS

Did you know that the ACLU has filed a suit to have all military cross-shaped
headstones removed and another suit to end prayer from the military completely.
They're making great progress. The Navy Chaplains can no longer mention Jesus'
name in prayer thanks to the wretched ACLU and our new administration.

I'm not breaking this one. If I get it a 1000 times, I'll forward it a 1000
times!

Let us pray...

Prayer chain for our Military... Don't break it!

Please send this on after a short prayer.. Pray for our soldiers

'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands
Protect them as they protect us

Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our
time of need.

Amen.'

Prayer Request: When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer
for our troops around the world.

There is nothing attached. Just send this to people in your address book. Do not
let it stop with you. Of all the gifts you could give a Marine, Soldier, Sailor,
Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.

GOD BLESS YOU FOR PASSING IT ON!

Well, then get off you duff and start a project page for ol' #24. :-) You're
right though, I can't make you head over and join in the fun. Ya gotta do that
yourself. :-p

By banning scumbags like that it tips off Yahoo to boot them altogether and
eventually block their ISP if they keep signing up and spamming lists.

Well
we haven't ALL moved Pete....lol... I'm on too many Jeep lists to sign
up for a forum every time one is created.  Too much trouble to search a
dozen forums constantly.  Email lists are so much easier to monitor...

Murphy, I don't know your skill level so basic questions are required.

1. Do you have a voltmeter and know how to use it?
2. Does it crank at all?  I know you said no lights, etc. but that doesn't mean
it won't crank.
3. What year/engine Comanche are we working with?
4.
Is your battery solid?  Need to pull the cables and charge it
overnight.  Autozone or Advance and others will charge it for you and load
test it for free if you take it in.

Batteries will do stupid
things.  At about 0100 one morning, I started the '04 one night, no
problem, drove down to the QuickieMart.  Shut it off, went in, came
out, would not crank.  ??  No lights, nothing.
Walked
home, got the big truck and came back.  Jumped it and had to let it sit
and charge awhile, but she restarted.  Drove it home.
Then walked back to the store to get my other truck.
Battery would not hold a charge.  Replaced it and no further problems.

As
major as it sounds this has got to be something big, like a fusible
link, corroded cables, or something like that.  We need to determine if the
battery is good, then
start looking for where the power stops flowing with the voltmeter.
I've got tons of electrical schematics as do most of the list members
so we should be able to help you find it....
