Re: [Jeep Comanche] Re: A tough one to solve

If your gonna weld on any vehicle without disconnecting the battery get yourself
an anti-zap ...it clips on to the battery terminals and protects all
electronics, plus keep your ground as close to the welded area as
possible....clean of the paint to bare metal....if not this will kill your
vehicle.....been there done it major fire guys dont mess with this....

DEFINITELY wiped out the computer on a wrangler I was looking to buy.  It had
been wrecked,
but would still run and drive.  The salesman started it with a battery pack,
then removed the pack
and told me I could drive it around the parking lot.  I declined.  The person
who bought it and repaired
the body damage, then discovered none of the gauges worked, and all the gauges
were controlled by
the computer via a data link. Had to have the computer replaced.

I've had the same thing happen to mine by welding on it without disconnecting
the battery or computer, too.
