This is a club for those who feel like following statement it says.

From its beginning in 1972, until last unit produced in April 1997, Jaguar XJ12 was, no doubt, one of the greatest saloons ever produced.

Its smooth V12 engine won hearts and minds, while other manufacturers installed into competing cars nothing more than V8's. Sadly, when others joined the game with 12 cylinder models (BMW, Rolls Royce, Mercedes-Benz) Jaguar abandoned its all time greatest engine April 17, 1997, and replaced it with supercharged V8, which lacked that finesse of traditional Coventry V12...

Perhaps the evolution of XJ12 reached its peak in X300 series (X305, produced between Autumn 1994 - April 1997), and had as a model, only two alternatives to go. Either endup as 48-valve variant (which later appeared in Aston Martin DB7 Vantage), or be discontinued...

Unfortunately, Ford bosses, who understood nothing about elegant European V12 engines, discontinued production of XJ12. Other kind of outcome might have created 420HP Jaguar XJ12, keeping Jaguar about equal with its V12 powered competitors.
