I'm confused! You agree that the kickstand switch is a safety
feature but because your ride is "a bit junkier than most" it is OK
to throw it away? I am sure that if you do end up discarding the
switch, or short circuiting it, you will be caught out riding round
a left hander with the side stand down! Never EVER thought I would
be so stupid as to do it myself. Very careful to alway check it, and
what do you know - after 40 years riding - I did it. Maybe because I
have become used to the PC warning me, maybe because I was on my
CB400f super sport that isn't ridden that often. At least when I
fell off, I was just moving off and broke a mirror, clutch lever and
LH hand grip end. More ego damage than anything else - the PC is
quite a different story, think of the hours repairing and repainting
all that Tupperware! If the switch is faulty, I would replace it -
the professionals who designed it left it there even in later years
when they were trying to reduce the cost of the new bike in 98 by
removing expensive front fenders etc.
