---If you don't know already, Super Scout Specialists and the other
Light Line Parts dealers have service manuals for roughtly $40 a
piece. the 1974 is a one volume set. 1978-1980 is a two-volume set and
covers pretty much everything (less points dizzy) for all Scout IIs.
The only model changes between 1973.5 and 1979+ were the bulkhead
connector and fuse panel. Even my Mitchell manuals show that.
---That's another option. The local Library in the Reference Section.
You can copy all you like, but you cannot remove the manuals. Look for
Mitchell Service Manuals, Engine and Chassis Electrical, Domestic
Trucks & Vans, your year (which should be IIRC 1973-1984). That will
have the easiest wiring "Diagram" (FWIW, you'll pretty much need a
degree to read a "schematic", so I doubt that's what you're looking
for). BinderBulletin.org has been changed to BinderPlanet.com and the
files are still available. BinderBulletin.org is back up but is new*,
containing none of the old info and wiping away all traces of Irate4x4.
---Then you have Binder Blues, a copy of my 1974 diagram I passed out
years ago is still circulating too. It is complete* so there's no
guesswork. Follow each circuit from Point A to point B and see how
many wires are terminated to each terminal prior to crimping. Once you
have all wires, then crimp... saves on crimps trust me... BTDT and if
you're considering a re-wire, I suggest Ron Francis' Wire Works. He is
the oldest in the business and his fuse panels have a lifetime
warranty. He will build you a system for* your vehicle, not just sell
you an "UNIVERSAL" kit and say "SEE YA!". Their technical support is
the best*... which I only had to use twice. One prior to install and
once after. They were dead on nuts with each answer and each was
answered in less than 3 minutes. I say this because I used shoddy
NAPA, Wal*Mart & KMart wire and terminals three times. They never held
up to salt or load and I was replacing the same circuits every Spring.
Do it right the first time with no butt splices or scotch locks and
you'll be like me 8 years down the line, not a single* problem.
---Again, you can use any* Scout II wiring diagram from 1973 to 1978
and there will be NO changes. The diagrams I have (Mitchell & IHC)
show the different distributors too. You can also find someone who has
Mitchell1 Vintage Auto Discs. They'll have the same diagrams I have.
---Don't forget... Support your local Light Line Parts Vendor or
International Truck and Engine Corp. :D
---Thank you,
