Memorial Ride and Cookout to Honor Jesse Allen Holden

Allen Holden was diagnosed with leukemia on November 26, 2008 (the day before Thanksgiving). He lost his valiant battle with this disease on June 22, 2009 (the day after Father’s Day). Allen was a vibrant 29 year old man and his life touch many others, many of which we did not know until after his death. His smile and laugh was infectious and invited everyone else near him to join in. His family was his world; his nephews were his pride and joy.

 

Allen was a patient at the Moffitt Cancer Center for the duration of his illness and it was his home away from home. The nurses and techs were his second family. This facility is the most wonderful gift to the families and patients.

 

At the memorial in North Carolina, people were encouraged to write thoughts, memories, and notes to attach to the balloons. Allen’s nephew Ethan asked his Nana to help him write a note on his balloon. The note read “Dear God, please take care of my uncle Allen. We love him so much.” Both of them cried as the balloon went up, taking his note to God.

 

We will be honoring Allen with a ride and marrow drive on July 25th at 10am at Zephyr Park in Zephyrhills. There will be a cookout to follow the ride. ALL BIKES WELCOME. RAIN OR SHINE

 

A marrow drive will also be conducted to help other families facing this disease of Leukemia. The process is PAINLESS so please join.  Any money raised by this benefit will go to fund research at Moffitt Cancer Center and help patients and families with medical care. It is our goal that someday, no other child has to suffer this pain.
