In 1980 Car craft Magazine featured Main Street in Mesa AZ for the
Cruisin USA series. I was part of a group called "Concerned Mesa
Cruisers" We worked with the city of Mesa for about two years trying to
keep crusin alive and well, while the city leaders were trying to run
us off so they could "Re develop the downtown area". Truth was the city
leaders all owned property along main street and was using a federal
government grants to improve the curb apeal so they could sell for
profits. Now 25 years later the city leaders and downtown merchants
realize that was a mistake and need our business. We got almost the
whole gang back together and have been featured in local media coverage
as well some nationwide coverage. We have been in contact with car
craft magazine as well and they are planning on doing another story
about the cruise and our group. We will be doing another cruise night
November 22 and we are hoping for a huge turnout. We have been cruising
again every second friday night of the month, but after 25 years the
turnout has been somewhat limited. So if you live in Arizona and
remember cruising main street in Mesa please come to the cruise on
November 22 we need your help to get cruising going again in Mesa
