ABS upgrade of non ABS Reflex?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #55547 of 58927 |
You know, I've been thinking about ABS brakes lately. I have
read articles and posts from various scooter and motorcycle
forums about the life, limb and property saving attributes and
peace of mind they provide. Also from experience with the ABS
on my pick-up truck. Certainly ABS is an excellent idea and is
an available option on some bikes. I really do like the Honda
Reflex and I have two of them. (both are the Sport model) But
neither of them have the ABS option. If reasonably possible, I
would like to change that situaition but want suggestions and
advice on how best to do that. I wonder if there such a thing
as upgrading the current brake systems to those that would have
ABS. I'm sure it would be possible, but wondering how practical
(read how expensive and/or difficult) it might be. On the other
hand, there is always the sure approach by selling these two and
buying one or two that do have ABS. My scoots; One is a regularly
used 2004 with a little over 27000 miles and the other is a 2007
with only 310 miles on it and only needs some plastic replaced to
make it like new. Ideas?, suggestions?, advice?.

(I ride with a 145/70R12 car tire on the back of _'After Midnight'_
my 2004 Honda Reflex Sport.)
-> 8600 miles so far with the car tire. <-

First thing to do is to buy a (legal) copy of the service manual. Then price out the parts. I can think of no part that is different between the ABS and...

Way too expensive to do unless you buy a wrecked one for parts. Buy a Reflex with ABS - sell the non-ABS. Bruce...
