Thanks, yes I found the step-by-step instructions on another web
site. It does take about 30 minutes to remove the dash assembly and
instrument panel cover. I also ended up replacing the light on the
hazard button. Got the replacement lamps from Radio Shack for around
$2 for 1 pair.

I have a 2002 and the transmission went out last year. I think 3rd just sort
of went away, but I noticed similar symptoms to yours just before. Honda
replaced it under warranty. They even provided a rental van for us while it
was being repaired. The whole episode literally did not cost me a cent.
Hopefully your experience would be as pleasant. Still, I would try to stall
until you can visit a good dealer and find out for sure.

I would imagine that the leasing company wants you to buy out the lease, as
taking the van back and unloading it is probably more hassle and less profit
for them. I would think that they would cooperate in giving you time to work
out the warranty situation first.

Good luck,

                 Bob

I leased a 2003 Ody 4 years ago. It had the recall done on the tranny
and they just put in the extra cooling jet thing. I was going to buy
out the lease next week, BUT the tranny just started acting bad.
Slipping shifts, delays going into gear, burn't smelling tranny fluid
and whine.

Now it is a Canadian Ody (I am in Canada and it was bought here in
Canada) and it has 103,000 kilometers on it. Does anybody know if there
is an extended warranty on Canadian Odys if the recall was done? Should
I just walk away from the lease?

PLEASE HELP AS I AM GETTING IT CERTIFIED TOMORROW! Not at the dealer
though.

Dan

Was there a recall on the 2004 tranny?
Just curious, cause I'm experiencing some slow gear changes and lurching.

This may sound funny, but each time our clock light has gone out, we have
gotten it to come back on. I suspect that it is more of a socket problem
than a bulb problem. The first time it happened, the light came back on
when we hit a rather large pothole. The second time the light went out, a
hefty rap on the dash brought it back on. The running joke is now that
percussive maintenance will fix it the next time it goes out.

I think this a known problem with 2000s (There is no recall). My bulb went out a
couple of years back and the dealer changed it under my extended warranty. It
went out again some time back. Did some research, you need to remove the entire
dashboard in order to get to the bulb. The bulb itself costs a dollar but labor
is $50.
Now, I just turn on my cabin lights when I need to look at the time.

I have a 2003 Odyssey and the clock light has been going on and off
for a year now. I hope you can do it yourself because the dealer wants
$52 to replace a bulb!
I think this is a recall problem but I have seen no recall yet and the
dealer does not want to help get it covered by the extended warranty
or any other way except doing it yourself. $52 to change a bulb……Sad.

If I remember there was a something about the opening in the block
needs to be drilled out as it is to small and causes the value to go
bad faster. You need to check on this.

Hi Bob,

I'm guessing the amount for airbags was about $300.00. The installer charged me
in the $200.00 range for springs, giving me a discount because of the failed
airbags.

Sorry for the late reply. I was unable to get on my account for some time.
I can't recall the exact cost for the springs, but I think it was in the $200
dollar range-- about the original price of the air bags. I know the installer
gave me a break on the price because the air bags he'd installed earlier were
such a waste of money. One thing I forgot to mention is the squeaky sounds
eminating from the rear of the van that seem to be part and parcel of a stiffer
spring suspension. Frankly, the sounds bother my wife more than they bother me.
She's given up on commenting on them though.

I like the idea of stronger springs instead of air bags. Did you install
them yourself or have it done? Still researching the alternatives you know.

I also had the same problem. Often this happens when the battery is
disconnected for a short period of time, OR the SRS fuse is blown, OR
the SRS computer has failed. There are other possibilities, but the
above ones are the most common.

Yes, if the light is on, your SRS system is non-functional. NOT GOOD.

You can have the SRS light reset with the proper diagnostic tool -
many mechanics have them and all dealers have them. (My mechanic had
to buy a special module for his analyzer to do this) Dealers charge
WAY too much to reset the light. If the light comes back on after a
reset, then there is something wrong that must be repaired (usually
the computer.)

Get `er done.

I had this problem with the light coming on and it was a problem with the SRS.
They told me the SRS system goes through the steering wheel and because the
light was on the system would not have worked if i needed it too.
