Hi ya all,

The HR-V horn is quite annoying
and quite hard to play "in a more piano mode", it
always sounds loud... and its hard to "press" without
fearing the airbag coming out in our face... I've punched
the wheel some times, without setting the horn (boy
that pisses me off) when furious with the grannies,
missies and boneheads on the road..

I also hate
the headlights/turning lights lever... I keep turning
off the lights when I mean to turn in a hurry and
move the lever to indicate I'm going to turn so fast I
accidently turn off the headlights... not good in dark roads
at 90 mph in an overpass...

Dont think the
HR-V needs more H.P., but the more, the
better...

Kwtchy

Hey folks, I was wondering if anyone knew of any
tune up parts for the HRV. I've seen a photo of a
Japanese one with what looked like a big bore exhaust on
it. Anyone know if you can get one of these for the
HRV in the UK? Also... anyone fitted a performance
EMS chip to theirs?
Chris
(hrv.isfun.net)

Yoski, I like how you say you 'own' your wife! He

Scotland and therefore explains why my HRV is always
covered in salt, mud, dirt and generally looking as dirty
as a tractor! ;)

My other car's a Peugeot 205

Hi all,

I've also peaked the hr-v site our
friend told us about.
In Portugal, the sun roof is
standard. The rear spoiler gives much charm to the car, I
agree with Andre.
I however disagree with the
steering wheel staying in front of the instrument panel...
Mine does not. Maybe because I'm tall or maybe because
I've adjusted the steer height to the lowest possible
:).

The thing I hate is the so called "ergonomic
improved" steer levers... Almost every time I turn on the
turning signs in a hurry, I accidently turn off the
lights (at night).

The engine is powerfull, you
just have to "educate" a bit at the first miles
(consuming more fuel, but what the hell!) by pushing each
gear almost to the red line.

My HR-V now goes
up to 100 kmh in less than 11 seconds and goes up to
190 kmh/horizontal, with no sweat. The synthetic oil
and 98 octane fuel helped a lot, but without the push
I gave it in after the firts 600 miles, it would
now be a very lazy engine.

Here in Portugal
you can choose the interior color and pattern. I own
a red HR-V with leather interior.

Like you,
I hate all the "extras"...
Another thing, the
gray side pillars on the windshield are too loose and
sometimes noisy... a bit of plasticine glue solved the
problem.

Regards,
Kwtchy

Hi,

First of all congratulations for your
site. I specially liked the section with the good and
the bad things you found out about the HR-V altough I
don't agrre with all of them:

The Spoiler - I
really do like the spoiler. In Portugal you can buy the
HR-V without it and I think it loses a bit without
it.

Never had a problem with the Fuel Flar Release but you
are 100% correct about the steering wheel getting in
front of the instruments

I agree with most of
the other things you talk about but I still think the
HR-V is a great and fun to drive car.

Hello all, thought you might like to have a look
at my Site which has my thoughts and experiences
with my HRv which I;ve had since May 99. Also has lots
of pictures shamelessly nicked from around the Net.

Hi you all,

I own a HR-V ever since July
99 and I've previously owned a CR-X VTEC. Altough I
agree the HR-V is no bullet when it comes to top speed,
I must say I've already pulled it above 200 km
(about 110 mph) (descending iñ a highway) and the draft
was not that much (aerodinamic resistance). Sadly,
above 170 kmh, the car is not stable enough to perform
some more closed curves (regarding that, I miss my
CR-X).

The engine must be "educated" in the first miles
(after the first 600) in order to be capable of
providing real power (otherwise it becomes a bit
lethargic)... Pulling all gears to about 6500 rpm (remember you
only feel the 105 hp at 6000 rpm) will get the car up
to specs in little time. Accelerations can be superb
(in Europe) if using 98 Octaine gas and synthetic
oil.

I've tried the new 4 doors 125 hp HR-V, it is not much
different. HR-V engine may acomplish more if power injection
chips star to appear (though they may hurt the engine
in the long run)...

The breaks though, seem a
little "slow" when pushing HR-V to the limits, so be
carefull when calculating breaking
distance.

Regards,

Kwtchy

this normal?

If you press the A pillar harder to make it stay
tightly the noise will be gone for a while.
I think my
car dealer just put some cushion inside it. You can
try by yourself. But if your dealer will fix it free
for you, why not.

One more tip. If you find
out squeak or creaking sound comes out from your
seat, the sound may be from the base of seat belt lock.
Grease it and the sound will be gone.

I had the same problem before. In my case, the
noise came out from the A pillar 'cause it was loose.
After tightly fixed by my car-dealer, the noise
gone.
By the way, in Japan, the black under-cover(the one
covers the front window at the bottom) is easy to get
loose or part of it get floated after several months.
My dealer replaced the new one for me anyway.

same problems with the seatbelts - seems the
springs aren't tight enough, they have troubles pulling
in twisted belts.
with the passanger front seat
try pulling it back by the bottom part (the one you
sit on) and then tilt back the part you rest your
back on (not the other way round).
the driver's
front seat wasn't made for passanger entry, and i must
say i quite like it. i have an exuse for telling my
friends to get into the car from the other side. besides,
you can fold back the seat without moving it forward,
which is convenient when you want to get quick access
to the back seat to hang your jacket.
as to the
noises Andree was talking about, i don't have any (at
least not from the dashboard).

i have a
suggestion to all of you, not sure if you'd like it: the HRV
is quite new on the market and i've already found 3
english language hrv clubs (not even looking for any - so
there must be more). why not make one club? i know
everybody want's to have their own club, but this is
pointless - nobody will visit all the clubs (perhaps the
unemployed, but they don't have the money to buy an hrv).
lets decide on one club, direct all the members of the
other clubs to that one and close the other clubs. this
way all (or most of) the web-literate hrv owners will
come together and share their experiences etc. what do
you think?
Bart.

least I could figure that the 125 Hp has got a
maximum torque of 144 Nm at 4900 RPM and has a VTEC based
engine. Probably this is the same engine that equiped the
Honda Coupe 1.6 VTEC.
The 105 HP HR-V has got a

Hi,

I own an Honda HR-V with 105 HP since

aerodinamic shape it doesn't achieve very high speeds altough

accelerations.

I couldn't get any information on the 125 HP

Hello,
I saw that a new version of the HR-V is
available with the 1.6 VTEC engine (125pk instead of
105).
Does someone has some more details about this new
engine (max speed, review, ...) because I heard that the
standard 1.6/105pk is a bit short for this car ...
especially on the highway.
TIA
Olivier
