Hello.
I also had this rumbling noise from the back of my 1999 5-door HRV. It
turned out to be water in the differential fluid. Honda UK replaced
the fluid and flushed out the system. The noise never returned, and my
HRV went on to do 200,000 KM.
They fixed it quickly, with no problems. My HRV was still under
warranty when this problem happened.
