Hi,
Just viewed the picture posted by
NUJASONN. Is it for real? I mean, are we getting it as a
Year 2001 model for the US, or will it just be
released in Japan? I was seriously considering the Y2K
CR-V until I checked out the 2001 RAV4 pictures on the
web, but I would gladly go with the possible 2001 CR-V
since it has proved to be a much better mini ute
already... Anybody know if they are releasing it in the US
for sure? if so, when is it gonna make it's debut in
the US market? September 2000, maybe?
Appreciate
it if somebody could provide
feedback.
Thanks!!
Karthik
I just bought one as well - I took delivery last
Friday. I like it a lot, although there are a couple of
things I'd like to change; for example, I have trouble
seeing the clock in bright daylight and it would be nice
if the tailgate opened the other way for convenience
while parallel parked on the right side of a
street.

I added just two accessories: an arm rest for the
passenger and wheel locks.

Have you given any
thought to rotating the spare tire through the cycle when
it comes time to do a tire rotation? The manual only
contemplates a user rotating four tires. Probably it would be
more trouble than its worth to rotate five
tires.

There is a review of the new Ford Escape in the July
Motor Trend magazine. Most of the comparisons are to
the CR-V, which comes out quite favorably. While the
Escape has a V-6, it also weights 500 pounds more, so
our CR-V 4 does quite fine. In fact, the CR-V 4 with
manual transmission had one of the fastest times in
0-60, although it was red lined before the clutch was
popped. :-)

cheers, Stephen
Just purchased a 2000 CR-V EX. Have had other Honda's and a stint with two
mini-vans. The CR-V is a fine machine. Could use a V-6! Glad I made the leap.
I would tell you to see if you can find a 99. I know those are the ones where
they started using the 146 hp engine. I've seen a couple of them run at about
17000 for an EX
I am new to this group. I'm looking to buy a CR-V
in the near future. I'm torn between getting the EX,
SE or waiting to see if there is a new version
coming out for 2001. Can anyone help me make this call.
Has anyone seen info on the possible new look to the
CR-V?

Thanks
I just got my '98 EX about a month ago. I planning on doing some upgrades and
customizing this summer. Are there any Websites or Catalogs just for CRV's? let
me know.
Hi. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that
Honda was going to come out with a re-designed CR-V for
the 2001 model year (which would come out in
September 2000 or so).

Honda seems to come out with
"special editions" near the end of the product cycle (they
did this with the Accord), and there's a new CR-V
special edition, which would indicate a new version
coming out soon.

Poking around the 'net, I can't
find the 2001 model mentioned anywhere, and can't find
anything about if it's going to be re-designed or
not.

Does anyone have any info??

Thanks,
Alf
I am considering a used Honda CRV.
The only
CRV that is in my price range is the model with the
less powerfull engine. If I buy a CRV, I will most
likely get one with a manual transmission. I usually
haul up to 500+ pounds of books + myself (200 pounds).
I am wondering if the CRV with a manual has enough
guts to carry me and my load up mountain roads. I
would appreciate any advice from CRV owners. Thanks
Does anybody know if the speakers up front are
the same as the ones in back? (I've got a 98) A
friend told me that once I get my new Polk's for the
front I should rotate the old ones to the back.
thoughts?
Absolutely!
I must bought new tires for my
1998 EX. I only had to buy three new ones 'cause I've
got that brand new spare handing on my tailgate door.
I put that one on the road and replaced it with one
of my treadless original tires.
If you're
rotating regularly, you should definitely include your
full-sized spare in the rounds. It is, after all, a regular
tire.
Info on raising the crv. Since the shocks from
civic are the same Diameter as the crv i've seen people
using the (new: 1) the Diameter of the stock shocks are
1 11/16" frt and rr.. 2) for the Bilstiens diameter
its a little over 1 15/16" )Weapon R adjustable + or
- 2" spring perch. theres more out but that one
just comes to mind. also 15 x 7's w/225/70-15. will
also rise it @ 1". anyhow hope this helps. Springs H&R
are all on back order til Aug. Eibach isn't intending
on making springs for the CRV ( it maybe in the
catalog but that has changed.) neuspeed may also be back
order but i haven't check on them.
IF you can find this Magazine theres an article
on a CRV that they have started to modify.
Import Tuner September 1999 or you can check their web
site www. importtuner.com. I'll be posting pics of my
CRV as soon as it gets out of the Body Shop.
hey bspooky2, From what i've heard the camberkit
from a civic will work the only thing is it will need
to be modified to fit on the tower. Also that most
of the Suspenion parts are straight from the civic.
Theres a company out there that makes adjustable control
arms to fit ( front only )the civic, but i'm sure that
they'll make them for the CRV soon enough. Info on
raising the crv. Since the shocks from civic are the same
Diameter as the crv i've seen people using the Weapon R
adjustable + or - 3" spring perch. theres more out but that
one just comes to mind. also 15 x 7's w/225/70-15.
will also rise it @ 1". anyhow hope this helps.
Is there a camber kit? And do you have any info
on raising the CRV 1.5" to 2"? I've had lowered
Hondas before and I got tired of the uneven tire wear
since the Camber was off. Now, I want to place a bigger
tire/wheel combo on the CRV and am more concerned with
height. I've been told swapping the springs should do it,
but again, what about the camber?

Hey Mike. Speaker upgrades for the CRV are really
easy to do. It's an inline plug in. About the only
hard part is pulling off the door panels. I've also
replace the stock speakers with the Pioneer TS-G1640.
I've added rear tweeters in the fifth door and Custom
sub box. The Sub box fits inside the cargo area under
the picnic table.
If you like I can send you some
pics of the design. If your good at Fiberglass work it
sould take only @ 16 hrs to complete. Hope this helps
R-V upgrades - Has anyone installed any of the Honda upgraded speakers for the
CR-V ? Are they a good improvement/good value ? - In the case of the tweeter
kit, does it install easily ? Thanks
ince the tank hold approx. 15 gal. And I usually fill it shortly after the
light goes on I would assume it probably still hold approx. 2 1/2 gal. BUT YMMV!
