Well, I got to take the little red rocket for a spin today. Willie met me on
his way back from Tucson just south of the Valley here and threw me the keys.
First thing I noticed was the exhaust note from him having the muffler taken
off. It's not overly loud though and once you get up to speed it goes away. And
I gotta say, wow!
Where the Insight normally takes a good while to rev up the LRR gets there
now. As told to I waited until 4000 rpm to hit it and at that point I hit it in
1st and watched the boost gague go up and a red light that ment the 4th fuel
injector was on light up and by the time I had processed all that I loooked
towards the tach no expecting I had already red lined the car! Grab second and I
heard the whoss ss sss ssshhh of a blow off valve! Cool!
If I had to guess I'd say the car would probably be very capable of a lower
16, high 15 second quarter mile. I deffinitely wish I had that kind of extra
power for climbing hills.
Now having seen Willie's setup I gotta say it's very impressive. It can go
yet still get good mileage when your not on it. All the custom fabrication he
did is an impressive feat. He proved it could be done when others said it
couldn't. Bravo Willie, if a tubro setup like that wouldn't massively void a ton
of
my warranties on the car I might have to consider one of my own. Maybe some
day. Thanks again for the Ride Willie.
Later
Ricky
