that should read: and as you implied,  with carbon , you have to do a lot
of engineering  just to get close to taking advantage of ANY savings in weight
and no matter what you do carbon it will still be higher priced then the same
part built to an  equal strength with glass cloth... Timothy

to build with and it is cheap... light... and about 200 times stronger then
sheet steel pound for pound... nothing new or over priced... and as you said you

weight and no matter what you do it will still be higher priced...

P.S. I've worked with kevlar, boron, nomex, carbon, ceramic and many, many,
other materials with a lot of different type resins... and for my own use I
chose fiberglass cloth, pink dow foam board and aeropoxy resin... cheap and easy
to work with... can't beat it... :)

Good point Tim. I have been involved in the design and build of a carbon fibre
car, and I doubt anyone could make effective use of CF for one without a lot of
experience (basically I learned enough to know how little I knew). I think for
most people using CF as a reinforcement/ stiffener is a better trick than making
the whole thing from graphite.
