Dear Manish
My intention in replying to your mail, is not to patronize Hyundai or the dealers. However, I feel you should consider the following:
1. How old is your car?
2. Is it covered under basic/extended warranty?
Rusting of the exhaust pipe is a common problem that takes place as a result of the combustion exhaust gases which are nothing but carbon dioxide and water vapour. In fact, more frequent rusting and corrosion of the exhaust is indicative of either of the two facts - either you are driving through a lot of puddles, or the engine is performing excellently, i.e. it has been better run-in and is producing the ideal gases, has optimal compression etc.
I feel you should take up the matter with the service advisor when you take your car to an authorised dealer and ask for a replacement of the exhaust pipe, and if the vehicle is covered under warranty, it should not be a hassle. There have been numerous instances when I have gotten the exhaust pipe replaced on my Hyundai cars, both under warranty and out of warranty as well. I have rarely encountered trouble claiming warranty on factory fitted equipment.
A lot of manufacturers have issues if you have carried out engine modifications, modifications to the exhaust system, etc. which can potentially void warranty, but at the same time, Hyundai is very tolerant about such cases and the consumers usually do get claims easily.
It is best however to take help of a service advisor to sort out the matter. If a particular dealer is unable to offer service, request them for a written advise for the reason they are not offering you service to your satisfaction. All manufacturers offer service through authorised dealers and service stations and Hyundai also operates company owned outlets and service stations such as one at Hyundai Motor Plaza, Mohan Cooperative, Mathura Road, New Delhi. It is only at the service station that any manufacturer will offer you warranty for your vehicle.
Thanks,
Arjun

Hi All,
After following up for last one month, my patience are eroding as there
is no response from Hyundai Customer Care except for giving the
complaint Number.
I have sent them below mail last week but no response so far.
Looking at this kind of customer service, soon Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota
and Honda will take major share of Hyundai in Indian markets after they
launch their cheaper but better cars. Maruti will remain leader with
excellent service they provide.

Subject: Stinker Complaint Number HESS 6274
Hi All,
Looking at pathetic customer service response from Hyundai and
tired of using politically correct language with no response from
Hyundai, I had no option but to title subject of this mail as Stinker.
In last 30 days a few calls from Hyundai came and gave complaint number (HESS 6274) but no help is provided to replace the rusted exhaust assembly.
Request you to look into this matter and help close the same in couple of days with following options:
1. Please replace the faulty exhaust assembly that came with my car from Hyundai
at the earliest. All other Automobile companies (such as Chevrolet) are
providing 3 years of no service no parts no labor service. But Hyundai
is not ready to replace the factory fitted faulty exhaust assembly.
This reflects poorly on customer care.
OR
2. Deny the customer service and
let me bear the entire cost of exhaust assembly. I will share the
feedback with all 1 Lakh employees of my company, and with all auto
forums. I will put the car on sale in national newspaper with History
of problems and response from Hyundai and requesting customers to buy
at their own risk. My next or any car in future will definitely not be
Hyundai even though I have no complaints against my GETZ except poor
customer service from Hyundai.
Regards,
Manish
