Rusting of exhaust happens naturally. If the motor is driven comfortably, the water vapour in the exhaust gases (predominantly H2O and CO2 in a well-tuned engine) will cause the exhaust to rust.
It shouldn't happen too soon, if it has been covered under warranty, I wouldn't be too worried. A rusted exhaust is the sign of a good engine, and replacing it doesn't entail any physical damage to the underbody or the engine. it is regarded as a semi-durable consumable. Though, I've not yet experienced it on the Getz, the Santro has generally given up its exhaust on me every 3 years. Daewoo and Honda cars also give up fast on the exhaust, while Maruti exhausts generally last longer.

Arjun

Hi,
There was no such noice or any other problem observed with the car before giving for service.
I complained to Customer Care and they followed it up and Hyundai has replaced the exhaust under warranty.
Only thing I am worried is if it was not natural rusting and service guys did the goof up, then they may do something wrong on next service also as well as moght have doen something else while replacing exhaust. But anyways one has to trust to some extent.

Manish

Did you have any rattling noises or increase in exhaust noise when you
drove the car before you took it for service?
