Hey there fweemers. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm
looking forawrd to the movie "Herbie Fully Loaded" this weekend.
Although the writing may be lousy, the really important thing is we
see our favorite Bug back in action. In some of the clips, Herbie now
sports a new engine (displacement unknown, though still air-cooled)
with dual Webers and a Bosch alternator in place of the 40hp. At least
they are using a '63 Bug (though I would be O.K. with a Super Beetle)
instead of the faux New Beetle (which would be blasphemous). Anyhoo,
if you go then I'm looking forward to any comments. Take care.

This is my 1967 Bug. It has taken me 4 years to get it on
the street. The picture was taken at Bug In #32 in Southern
California.
I am running a 2007cc stroker motor with dual Dellorto's, Engle 120
cam and DPR 78.4mm Crank. 90.5 pistons. Brothers Machining Heads. Car
came out of a horse barn and was completely rusted out from
horse "poop" and water. Body off
restoration included new heater channels and floor panels. Much
credit
goes to my friend "RJ" for his help.

Don't hold me to it, but I think there's no difference between
headlight rims on the Type III and Type I Ghias. You could ask The
Samba. They would be better at answering your question.

Hi there,

I was wondering about if there's any difference between VW type 34 and type 14 headlight rims. I want to buy a pair for my 1969 VW 345.

Also, my type 34 has normal lights, with two holes on the headlight rim, and I checked at the California Import parts page,

http://www2.cip1.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=vwc-141-941-175-a&Search.x=19&Search.y=15

and I saw that they only sell the headlight rim with just one hole, for sealed beams. What I need in order to use sealed beams instead of the regular lights?

Best regards,

Rodrigo Kurmen

Hi there, how are you? I've just uploaded a mini photo album of The
Atlantic City Classic Car Show. On the captions of the photos of The
Camper, I've listed the model year as 1970 instead of 1969 (which is
the correct year since the sign was hanging from the rear-view
mirror. DUH.), so my bad. Take care.

Hi there guys, how are you doing? I went to The Atlantic City
Classic Car Show & Auction earlier today. There were loads of
classic muscle cars, cars from the 30's and 40's, etc., but there
were a few air-cooled Volkswagens there. There was a '69 Standard
Beetle, a '74 Super Beetle with AutoStick, a '77 Super Beetle
convertible, a '70 and '72 Westfalia Campers. Sorry to say there
were no Karmann Ghias or even Type III's (or for that matter, Type
IV's or Things). I would have wanted to enter my '72 Super, but it
would also mean I would have to auction it off (and there is no way
in Hell I'm getting rid of my Bug). Anyhoo, that's my activity for
today.

Is That A Trick Question? (4 members voted)

I'll Get Back To You On It

Well, of course it was a trick question (why would I conduct a
useless poll about useless polls). I came up with a poll as a joke
(noticing other groups conduct useless polls, I'll one up on it).
Anyhoo, keep on buggin' and if you live in a part of the country
that got hit with snow, then be proud that your air-cooled VW can
drive great in snow (and laugh at others spinning their front-wheel
drice cars).

Hello Rodrigo,
thank you for your information request of our meeting in Nuremberg,
first we must change the event date to july' 23-24. 2005! becourse our
meeting is on the same place like the DTM-Race course www.norisring.de,
until to the 15. meeting our "event" was only a 2-3 Hour meeting and a
cruse.
Starting with the 15. Meeting we made it to a one day meeting, and after 2
years of success, last year about 130 Cars ;-)) by rain and storm.
This year we make first a 2 day event. The first day is again in front of the Steintribüne, in the evening we meet us in the serenadenhof, this is a open room in the site of the congress-hall, about 600 meter from
the steintribüne on a lake (grosser dutzendteich) all about 4 km from the main railway station.
the places are all on the old http://www.reichsparteitagsgelaende.de, the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg.
our plans is a little parts market, a corso from the tribüne to the
frankonian countrysite and back to the congess-hall on saturday, a "meeting in the meeting" of the www.pumadobrasil.de club, and a race of the german valve-cover-race www.ventildeckelrennen.de
maybe a guidet tour to the area, a visit in the nuremberg museum
industrial culture to see the Model of the first Volkswagen, build by
Zündapp in Nürnberg, the Porsche Type 12.
some more info (Program, images, press) about the last meetings you will
find on our meetingsite www.steintribuene.de (menu> "Vorjahre")

    Hello,

today I'll try to write all the information I have about the anniversary:

It'll be on 14- 17th july in GEORGSMARIENHÜTTE - that is near to Osnabrück and the Casino is the original place where they published the Karmann Ghia on 14 july 1955 - So we chose the original place & the original date.

The event starts at 14th july
The main days are 15 th july & 16 th july
and it ends on sunday 17th july

There is a central number to book a room or a camping site: 0049-541-9511195 is the number for accomodation bookings

The anniversary in July is planned and organised by all the KG Clubs of Germany. They work together with VW, VW Museum, City of Georgsmarienhuette. We will visit the Karmann production & the private Collection of Karmann in Osnabrueck. We also invited former Workers of Karmann to talk about "the good old times".

Karmann ordered an event organisation for June 2005, I thing they will probably use the event to present their new products. It is mostly more like an City Celebration Party, less a birthday.

We expect roundabout 200 -300 cars from all over the world. There are allready people from Netherland, France, Belgium, Denmark, USA, Japan and and and invited and interestet.

The main organisator is Tobias Ludwig - you can reach at info@... - He knows EVERYTHING about the event - but he actually trained his English.

You'll find all official information roundabout november 15th on www.50-jahre-karmann-ghia.de too. There will be a information for newspapers in english, too. If you already want to use the sign and the flyer - I could mail these things or

you can download the sign to integrate a link in a homepage: http://www.50-jahre-karmann-ghia.de/pictures/documents/1955-2005-KG-sign.pdf

And you can download the flyer for the Event:
    http://www.50-jahre-karmann-ghia.de/pictures/documents/flyer.pdf
If you can't download the information I will send it to you (2MB).

The next organisation-meeting is on october 30th, so if there any more information you need at the moment - I will ask for.

So if you have any further questions you are more than welcome to ask. & perhaps we'll see each other in july - it's worth coming.
Many greetings from Gross Gerau in the middle of Germany.

Well, I had my '72 Super Beetle for 7 years now. When I first got
it, it wasn't running. The engine was seized (the #3 cylinder was
fused together), the floorpan was so rusted, I could drive it like
Fred Flintstone, the heater channels were shot, and the upholstery,
UGH, it was tattered and musty. It took me 3 1/2 years to rebuild it
(if it wasn't for my tight budget, I would have had it up and
running a year earlier). It was originally yellow (and I hate
yellow, but since it was a project car), now it's metallic blue.
Interior is a royal blue velour. Improvements include a refit to
a '74-later suspension with adjust-a-struts, an alternator, power
windows, air conditioning kit from I.C.E. (although the kit is for
a '73-later Super, the only thing I had to look for was an A/C
evaporator housing from a '71-'72 Super), Blaupunkt stereo with Pyle
Driver speakers and soon a Sirius satellite radio. For the engine, I
kept it 1600 (but I used a new aluminum case, haven't had any
problems with it), I've 8-doweled both the crankshaft and Auto-Stick
drive plate, and powdercoated all the engine sheetmetal, ATF
reservoir, chassis, and fuel tank blue. It is a daily driver and
will plan to enter it in the annual Punch Buggy at The Atco Raceway
    in Atco, N.J.

Don't let that "messages require approval" scare you. I set that up

I would like to take the time out to welcome to my new group and
thanks for joining my group. I chose the name because of the sound an
air-cooled VW engine with stock pea shooters make. Feel free to post
pictures of your V-Dub and post a link to your homepage that features
your Fweemer. If you're going to post links, make sure that it has
something to do with air-cooled VW's. And there is just one rule: NO
SPAM, otherwise, enjoy it here. Later and fweem your Dub.
