Hi y'all!

I'm one of those folks who has owned hated cars in the past and LIKED
them LOL. Two Vegas, a Volare, and a Mustang II Cobra with a cracked
frame...my wife had a Gremlin and a Mustang, herself. Anyway, I'm
starting to consider my next project, and while on one hand I'd love to
have a balls-to-the-walls engine like my dad's 425hp 396, with gas
prices spiraling up, I can't afford the fuel that engine guzzled. So I
thought I'd ask what experience people have had with different motors.
I've had 350's and a 267 that got good mileage (for an 8) and a 318
that was okay, but my 289 sucked gas! So I realise that displacement is
not necessarily indicative of mileage. I still want a fun old beaast to
share with the kids, and want one that's carb/distributor/no or few
electronics and controls. Any recommendations?
