Check for rust around the bodykit (arches, skirts) and feel behind the front
spots for hidden holes in the front panel. Be very wary of cars with
aftermarket petrol filler caps as earlier Mk3 Fiestas rot round here badly.
Enginewise warm the car up till the automtic idling is shut off (choke) and
rev it hard checking the exhaust for blue smoke (worn valve stem seals).
Imnternally check all the electrics work. The steering wheel shoudl show
wear in accordance to mileage. A car displaying under 100,000 miles
shouldn't have too shiny a steering wheel rim.
Most importantly check the documents to make sure its a proper 2i. If theres
any doubt, walk away - there are planety aroubnd to choose from

Hi Paul, Tracey and Holly
Hope all three of you are well.
Just an update to let you know that thanks to your encouragement and
a little inspiration courtesy of FITP the Shed is moving on again.
Refitted the black interior along with the winged RS1800 seats.
Tinted the rear clusters half and half black/red again and this week
I will be on the case of the wide arch conversion.
I have also been sorting the parts for the Mk1. See the first
pictures at www.group2fiesta.co.uk .
Already in place for this one are:
Wide arch conversion
Rollcage
1600 engine
RS big brake conversion
I will hopefully be collecting the Quaife box and gears, quickrack,
2 1/4" coilovers, magnesium hubs with camber adjustment, and
front/rear RS suspension/brakes this week.
Paul

Yes, it's definite - the Shed won't be in attendance but it will appear
later in the season.
I have just got off the phone with a styling company and we are going to
work together to kit the Shed out with some unique kit next week. Expect mad
bumpers, sideskirts and some tasteful mods.
More details as they come!

I keep on meaning to have a look at FCGB website, just not had chance
what with Holly taking up most of my time!!!as you can imagine.Paul
is sorting out things that need doing on my car in between working

I will be going Tracey, but not in Project Shed. I was all on track for
having it on the road for the weekend but Connor has been off school for a
few days, leaving me well behind. Also I had to redesign the FCGB website
(had a look yet?) fot FITP which cost me time.
As for the Shed - got the fuel tank (had to buy a new one!) in. I need
interior (seats, door cards - black) bumpers etc now. Think it will be
ready in a few shows (at least driveable)!
Think I will have to take the lonely trip down in the Golf or something.
Latest news is:
Austin finally removed from the garage yesterday so the Shed and GP2 build
have a home at last!
Mk2 Golf is all but done. Just a sticking brake shoe and tuning to do before
I sell it now.
GP2 Fiesta now has genuine pads/shoes, steering wheel, pedal box, steering
rack, oil tank, suspension and brake calipers, hubs etc - looking for a set
of wheels now.
Give me a call on 07812131420 because I would love to chat. Hope you are
both OK and little Holly is doing well.

After spending the last couple of weeks sorting all Traceys black
XR2i mot problems it has just passed with flyng colours, but the mot
tester said "the cars in real good condition shame about having to
replace half the floof......"
Trouble is Ford no longer have any 3 door sunroof shells left so all
you can do is look round for a second hand shell which will have some
degree or rust or repair as they are all well old now.
Don't get me wrong i think this year i may have broke the back of the
rust bug so just some wings and a respray to do this summer but it
shore does make you think how long it's best to keep pouring cash and
time into what is for most the rotting mk3's.
See you at FITP soon.
P.s. Please pop over and say hello if any of ya go.
I have to agree. After owning 2 Golfs: Mk1 Cabriolet and Mk2 Driver I have
now decided to go for something bigger.
This decision is a bit of a shock to me as I normally prefer hot hatches.
I'm currently looking out for a low mileage Audi 80 1.9TDi estate. The
reasons are threefold.
1. I have two dogs and having them in a 3dr car is a nightmare.
2. We have 1 child (1 more soon if g/f has her way!)
3. I need something to tow a rally car when my Mk1 Fiesta is finished.
This essentially means the requirements are: 4 doors, dog space, luggage
room (pushchair - Paul, you know where I am coming from don't you!), diesel
(turbo for economy/response) and torque.
The Audi is economical, reliable, reasonably roomy, modern inside with lots
of toys and because its almost a sports estate (like the BMW 3 series
Touring)its got style potential too. If I change the grille, front
bumper, door mirrors and wheels it can look like an Audi RS2 - probably the
most purposeful estate known to man.
Anyway the bottom line is, a 3dr hatch isn't practical at the moment and I
don't fancy the pipe, slippers and newspaper yet so the compromise is a
modified sports estate.
Hopefully I can get a good one in a few weeks, ready to trailer a car to
FITP 2003.

Oh dear i to am 31 and just got a 4 door golf TD so i do understand

Hello all, just a quick update.
Well its 2 weeks on and my stolen XR2i has not been recovered and i
have resigned to the fact its burnt out somewhere in a Pikey car
graveyard over the local heath.
Yesterday the insurance forms were submitted, and now i have a 6 week
wait for some insulting offer to be made.
I'm a bit unsure what car to go for next, i would love another Xr2i
or maybe even the RS turbo. But now i'm 31 and have a family i think
my days of driving a 2 door car have gone (its becoming more and more
difficult strapping my 16month old daughter into her car seat).
I dont want to fall into the category of old fart driving a family
sized saloon, cant quite see myself in a Mondeo of Vectra/Cavalier
just yet. Next step there would be turning into my dad and owning a
Pug 405 Estate.
Any suggestions are welcome.
T
Well glad to here you are getting your finger out at last, i was
starting to think your Fiesta was a garden shed or a like.
As for the Golf i will take a look at the pics in a mo.
I have done the same and gone and bought a Golf GTD mk2 after buying
a Fiesta RS turbo.
