regular or premium gas?   Message List

hi everyone!

I´ve had a 4.6 liter 2wd supercrew for 2 years already, the car has
been great; however a few months back it started developing a kind of
sttuter in the 750-2000 rpm range. The dealership´s mechanics say
that it needs a fuel injector´s cleanup, the car only has 21,000
miles on it, they say that this is due to my use of premium gasoline
when I should have been using regular 87 octane. What kind of
gasoline do you use? has anyone had the same troubles as me? as far
as I knew filling up an engine that runs on regular with premium gas
was supposed to make it better and increase performance, now this
people are saying that it can do PERMANENT damage to the engine! I
don´t buy this. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? thanks
very much, and congrats on your adquisitions!

Personally, I don't use any higher grade fuel than is called for. Fuel prices just are killing me. I've got the 5.4 Liter motor and am real surprised at power...
