I've had a lot of help . I grew up around home construction so the
interior was easy for me and fortunatly I have a lot of friends who
have tractor-trailer repair services, so all in all its going really
well. I cant wait to get loose with a paint gun Ive never painted
anything but im going to paint my own if it takes 100 times to get it
right. If is ever in the mountains of N.C I am near Lake James just
off Interstate 40

I really don't know why I am attracted to Eagles...but I've got it
wholeheartedly. We started with an old chevy schoolie, then an ole city
bus, then an ACF Brill bus, then a GMC 4103....and now, we have a
Silver Eagle 1975 05/10, which, it took about 3 years to convert. We
were ready to roll but I was lured back into pharmacy practice so now
I am a relief pharmacist so we travel only on my days off...thank you
for starting Eagle Bus Life!!!!!

With Art and Cindy getting into appliances what is the feelings toward
electric service. I was trying to put 220 50 amp service to the coach
so that I could run everything off the gen set. I was also trying to
have 30 amp 110 run everything except the range and a basement air 220
unit. Only one power cord to shore, a 30 amp 110. I still had to have
the inverter circuit in which puts out up to 2500 watts at 110.
I gave up and just went to the 110 service off gen and shore.
Range and 220 air are out. If anyone has 220 off gen and 110 from
shore how is it wired?

Art, thanks, We'll let you know if we are there again. We used to go to March AFB and fly home sometimes when we were staying the winter in Yuma. Now we store the bus in Tacoma, WA. We will fly down the 2nd of July and go to BusNUSA.

Joe-

I looked at all the photos, and they looked good to me. Cindy and I
have an '88 Model 15, and it looks like we're going the same direction
as you are. . .I like the visor idea (it'll help me hid the sins of the
cap fitting), and we plan on pulling a trailer for one of the Harleys
and a '74 Triumph Spitfire. That's a good looking ride you've got--let
us know if you're ever in the Southern California area (Riverside
County), and we'll keep a cold one on tap!

Chris-

Cindy and I are So Cal people, so we probably won't make our way to PA
anytime soon. . .as a matter of fact, in the current state of the Eagle,
I'm hesitant to drive it back to storage! I envy you having a road
cruiser, as well as an off-road ride--I think this conversion might kill
me, so I'm not daring a second, although Cindy has made an inuendo to
that effect once or twice.

Enjoy the festival, and one day we'll catch you on the road!

Wow! We've been at it a year and have just barely achieved tunnel
status. . .in fact, the neighbors say it looks more like a jail bus with
the window supports welded in place. I'm guessing we'll have the siding
on by September (after a little Lake Havasu vacation), then I'll be
tinkering with the flooring and inside after that. As a former truck
mechanic, I thought I'd be ready for the project--but it's been a
learning experience with every step. But, I figure what the heck. .
.every day I wake up on the top side of the grass is a good day.

Good luck with your project!

George-

Cindy is pretty good about updating the webcove site (when I can get her
off the welder), and we'll be posting our progress regularly--this keeps
the relatives, who think we've departed from reality, appraised of the
progress. We're about ready for the appliance and tank purchase (in a
few months or so--after the Havasu vacation), and Cindy will keep
posting as we move along. So far, including the cost of the naked
coach, we're into the project for about $40K. . .(coach $20K, caps $2K,
reflections siding $2K, and lots of rivets, steel, and aluminum siding
for the rest)I guess it's too late to turn back now!

We've probably under-estimated our anticipated total expense of $90K,
but what the heck--we're too far into it to stop now. We'll look
forward to hearing from you, and if you're ever in the So Cal area, drop
a line and stop by--we've always got a few cold ones on tap!

Our Eagle is an '88 Model 15. . .although now it looks really ugly in
the roof raise process. My wife (Cindy) and I have been married about
15 years, and we've talked about doing a bus for full-timing since we
have been married. Apparently, she's just as nutty as I am, because she
went right along with me. I've gotta admit, as we were preparing for
the roof raise, getting ready to (probably) destroy a perfectly good
bus, I must have been dropped on my head as a small child. Now that
it's coming together, I have a little less gas when thinking about the
project. We're getting ready for a summer trip to Lake Havasu, AZ (cove
camping in 120 degree weather), and when we return, we'll be hoisting
the siding.

We started the project in September 2004, and planned about a 5-year
project. . .coinciding with retirement and the last two children
becoming adults. We'll look forward to hearing from you on the site.

Well, we're not exactly hitting the road yet, but alot of parts seem to
be finding their way to the asphault below. We just finished the roof
raise and cap installation--just the thought of cutting a perfectly good
roof off of a perfectly good bus was going to give me a heart attack. .
.as it turned-out, it just caused a litttle gas and we're moving
forward. Next step is the siding, but first we're taking a trip to Lake
Havasu for a week. Cindy says I'm getting a little obsessed with the
bus, so she's making me take a break. . .now, if I can just get her off
the welder. . .

Check out our progress at: www.webcove.com/eagle

Thanks for sharing your itch!

Ed-

Well, at least I won't be alone. . .we just finished the roof raise,
putting the caps on, and welding in support rails in the unused window
frames. Without the siding, it looks like an old jail bus--the roll
of siding sitting in the driveway will probably look a whole lot
better once it's on the bus. I told Cindy that I was going to get
some fuel tomorrow and she wanted to go--then she looked out the
window at it and decided I could go by myself!

I'm not sure where you're at, but if you're ever in the So Cal
(Riverside County) area, drop a line and feel free to stop by. .
.finished or not!

Hey Michael, great pics! Is the Eagle with the guitar the one for
sale? Just wondering, not shopping! LOL. The other bus looks like
it is in the same stage as ours. We just did the roof raise and put
the new caps on this month. It seems like this is going to take
forever sometimes!

Well, here's to everyone who signed on as charter members of this new
board... hopefully it will keep growing, because the more the merrier!
We worked on our bus today, welding bars across the empty window
frames. Every time we took a break, I'd run in and check this board
to see what's happening, and then go tell Art. I posted a picture
taken at the end of today (in Art&Cindys album). I see others have
posted pics too... that's great! We were hoping you would. If you
have a website, be sure to add the link to the Links page too.

We agree Randel, we also respect Pete's authority. He would not like a
lot of jibber jabber, and that's fine. We would like to get to know the
other bus owners, so that's why Eagle-Bus-Life was born. We also talked
to Pete before we announced this new board, and he was ok with this.

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Nice to meet you Michael! I mentioned second bus to Art, and he said I
was cRaZy for talking that way! LOL
Sounds like there are quite a few people who have had more than one bus, eh?

Those of us who have been bitten by the Silver Eagle bug weather
reciently or long ago get a rush from the logo and the itch to hit the
road again. Good luck with the web sight. :-} kw

We are Southern California Desert rats who just started our bus
conversion in September 2004. We just past "over the hump" from
tearing down and repairing, to finally putting things back together.
We are elbow deep into this conversion, and obsessed with our bus!
However, we are weekend warriors, so it will be a while before we are
done. We plan to get on the road fulltime someday!

We are looking forward to meeting other Eagle bus enthusiasts, here on
this board, and someday in person. Grab a wrench, or a map, and share
some wisdom or ask a question.

Art and Cindy
