Hey Dumont Duners,

The season gets closer and it is time to get some information:

BLM CA Desert District Manager/Area Managers and OHV leadership
meeting :

Maybe you read already, we have the word from Tim Read (BLM Field
Manager Barstow, he is the "big boss of Dumont") that the fee
demo
will not start this October. He will give the BLM and us more time to
get prepared. Great thanks to Ed Waldheim for he's great fight
for
Dumont (and all the other places in the southwest desert !!!) I will
attend all this meetings in the future in the name of Friends of
Dumont and will be happy to tell them our concerns at Dumont. Linda
Hansen (BLM desert district manager) was surprised that we already
have something going in Dumont !!!!

Friends of Oceano meetings:

We attended the last two, Bakersfield and Madera. AT Bakersfield we
did about 300 signs for our petition. AT the Madera meeting we had no
booth (some people didn't know what is "political"
correct at the
Bakersfield meeting, so the FoDD couldn't provide free booths at
Madera for that group and to be "political correct" also no
booth for
us and all the other groups).

Then Friends of El Mirage meeting:

The Friends of El Mirage/CORVA did already some work for Dumont, so
we decided (Ed Waldheim and Mike Neschke as president, I and my
brother as vice president of Friends of Dumont) that we will have in
the future our meeting together with Friends of El Mirage. At these
monthly meetings are usually all the important BLM Barstow people
(Tim Read, Mike Ahrens, Larry Blaine, Rose Foster), Sheri Davis (DAC
and movie), Tom Dustin (San Bernardino County) and many more. So we
can use an already established meeting with many important
connections.

DAC meeting:

Next will be in tree weeks in Baker. We planned to be there and
making a night ride out to Dumont Saturday/Sunday. Maybe we get some
people together and have some fun out there. At the DAC meeting will
be two major subjects, Boxer Wilderness Bill (hits us close with the
Kingston Range extension !!) and Glamis !!!

SSSS:

Friends of Dumont will have his room at the Extremebuggies.com/V8rail
booth. We will have at least some flyers and the petition there,
maybe (I hope) also the membership sheets!!

Cleanup, we need to make one. What you guys think would be a great
date ?

Mike informed us that the enviros also start to look at Amargosa (and
two other NV dune sites) So we have this idea to maybe include the
Amargosa Big Dunes into our Friends of Dumont meetings. But still it
is a idea, nothing concrete, but we have to fight for all the areas.

We soon hope to have a regular (online) newsletter.

c'ya soon in our great dumont dunes

Thomas
