A while back, I went with the longhorn beach bars.
The cables and wires did reach- I had to re-route the front brake line and wires, but they did reach, but just barely.
If i had t do it again, I would take the extra expense to get new cables and lines.
The job on the whole was quite easy and didn't cost anything other than the bars themselves.
in fact thats just what I did when I went to some ape hangers last year.
It was some extra cash... about $200 total for new cables and hydraulic lines, but well worth it.
I am also handy with a soldering gun so I was able to extent the wire myself.. and did them internally while I was at it.

Hello all and happy new years!
Anyone out there switched the handle bars on your Drifter??? I am
thinking about going to some "beach bars" on my 2000 1500. The bike is
in storage right now so I can't do any measuring. Does anyone know the
handle bar diameter (what size bar should I buy)? Also, how much extra
length is there on the control cables? Will I have to extend the
control cables? Is there a kit for that? Overall, is it a huge pain
in the a$$ to switch handle bars? Any advise would be greatly
appreciated.
Much thanks,
Mr. Bill
