Is there a headgasket problem on the SOHC neons? I have a 1996 2dr-5pd SOHC,
I had to replace the radiator when I first got the car because it got a little
hot....never into the red, I put in a new radiator and a "Fail-safe
thermostat" and was driving it tonight, everything was fine, was a 1/4 a way up
on the
temp gauge, and then all of the sudden jumped into the red and started beeping
so I shut it off immediately ... and then started it back up and the temp
gauge was down so I poured some coolant in, and then parked the car. I started
it
back up a little while later, and it smoked like hell, so I turned it off,
pulled the dipstick looking for water, and checked the oil cap for water,
everything was fine.... so I started the car back up with the radiator cap off
to
check for compression out of the coolant system, and everything was fine and it
didn't smoke.... ran like normal. Is this a fluke or do yall think I have a
blown headgasket?
