Well folks, the time is getting near, I should be ready for the big
swap by next week or Friday the 21st. (Still looking for a volunteer
or two to help me out.)
Today I went to the junk yard and found another manual transmission
to swap out with mine (Mine has been making LOTS of noise since I
changed the fluid.) I found out today that the PLYMOUTH/DODGE T350
transmissions take ATF-4 fluid, which is probably why I ruined my
trany by using regular gear/differential oil.
I got the used trany for $100 and the only problem with it is that
the final gear ratio is 3.55, so I have to swap out my final with it.
(I belive that is just swaping out the differentials, if you know any
better let me know)
I bought all the little things to make this swap a success, oil,
filter, new O2 sensors and new crank position sensor, new plugs, and
antifreeze. I also got LOTS of engine brite and new drive shaft seals
for the trany.
I have to clean and prep this used trany and get it looking like it
belongs to this engine. I am going to split my OLD trany case first
to see what I am getting into, then split this case and swap finals.
The Auto Zone also sold me a new connector for the new crank position
sensor, I do not know if I need it but I will find out. (New sensor
has 3 flat pins and I am guessing the old one has round?)
Well, it has been awhile and I just wanted to let you all know I am
still working on this baby. The weather has been outstanding for the
last week or so, I hope it is the same on the 21st. If it is, then
ALL SYSTEMS GO and you will be reading about results by Monday the
24th.
Later.
