Ok, after disassembling the 2.0 L DOHC engine I did a few steps on my
own.
1) I gasket matched intake manifold and intake ports of the head.
2) Gasket matched exhaust ports.
3) Inspected head. There were signs of dirt in the oil that made it
up to the cam journals, but the machine shop said these were not a
problem. LOTS of oil build up on ALL of the valves (intake and
exhaust) so I had valve guides checked and replaced if needed. The
valve seals were BAD.
The machine shop will bring the crank main and rod journals into
blueprint specs and fit the new pistons to the bores.
Picture of the machine shop. I will put the pictures of the finished
head, block, and crank when they are returned from the shop. (Which
will be awhile since Howell Automotive failed to tell me that pistons
were on backorder for 2-3 weeks.)
New parts that are going into the engine are: (From Howell Automotive)
1) Oversized stainless steel valves.
2) Crane Nitrous Cams
3) Crane valve springs
4) PT Cruiser cam followers and lifters.
5) ALL new seals and gaskets (Felpro) and a 5 layer (Victor) Head
gasket.
6) 10.5:1 JE Long Rod Pistons.
7) Eagle Long Rods.
8) New main and rod bearings.
9) Total Seal ring set.
10) ALL new main and oil pan seals.
11) ARP Head and Crank Stud sets.
12) New Water pump
