Hate to say it jeff , but sounds like your reverse is gone. One inexpensive thing you may try is having the transmission fluid changed along with the screen....

Absolute first thing to check: shifter itself. I've had this happen on cars in the past, the shifter comes disconnected from the linkage or the transmission....
