This could be worn bushings on the tie rod end at the steering rack. Grab ahold of the tie rods and give them a shake. One was worn (read gone) on my 95....

Hey Bill.... If your stat is not opening it will not allow the coolant to flow. I would change the stat first see if that fixes it cause it is the cheapest....
