I sent a letter with similar sentiments to yahoo about 2 months ago.
I also hate ( a strong word, yet appropriate ) Yahoo for their
successful destruction of a great online community.
I truly hope we can all catch up again at pfbranco's datsun1200.com.

I will never recommend their services, and will try my best never to
use their services ever again.

Please stop posting here, we are supporting yahoo.

Chris.

Hi Datsunalex

The A12A heads bolt to the A14 block the same but the intake
manifolds may be different. I think the exhaust manifolds are the
same. You may have to use the manifolds from the head that you are
putting on. All A-series heads will bolt to all A series blocks, only
the manifolds changed. I hope this helps.

Finally, I figured it out. when we switched from @home
to Cox.net...I no longer could get in to datsun1200.com
then I tried it at work and it worked. when I put in a proxy
server in the connections portion of my browser setup I was
then able to get to the site. to find a proxy to use, just
go to http://www.multiproxy.org/ and select a proxy server from the
list..you may have to try several before it works..
good luck

Hey Sterlingmac,
Last year, someone posted a message with a bunch of stats on the A-
series motors. They said that the A15 could be bored .140 oversized.
Do you know if this is correct? Is the A15 that much different from
the A14 block? My A14 block has about 6mm batween the #2 and #3
cylinders nd taking away .140 would only leave about that same amount
of distance between the cylinders. Do you know how much the A14 and
the A15 can safely be bored? I have an A14 but I want an A15 and I
want to build it like I did my old very high RPM A12. I want it to
have a larger bore that stroke. .140 of an inch would do that and
make it over 1600 CCs but I don't think that is possible. Any info
would be appreciated.

I am still having problems getting into the new 1200 Club. I can get
in but I can't log in.

Thanks
Mareo

The new groups is too confusing to me. I am just not very computer
friendly and the new groups has me wondering what to do next. I have
been on the site a few times but I have a hard time navigating to
where I want to be. The old club was simple without all of the many
places to go to.

ANYWAY,
I finally got my 1200 on the road. My exhaust vibrates onto the frame
at idle and that bugs me. I need to take it off and re-weld it.

I had a fit with the gas tank. The idiot that de-rusted it didn't
plug up the suction or vent tubes and they were all stopped up. It
took a while to get then unplugged. My gasline from the tank to the
fuel pump was plugged also with rust and that gave me a fit for a
couple of days. I tried to run a wire through it to get it unstopped
but the wire only siezed up after a couple of bends. I finally got a
large weed-eater line and pushed it through then I blew the line with
125 pounds of air for half an hour. It didn't need that long but I
was having fun with it, LOL. That worked real well and I haven't had
any problems with it yet.

I have over 150,000 miles on the motor now and it pushes a bit of
smoke when I floorboard the gas pedal. I am still going to drive it
for a while before I build another motor. My short block is a stock
65 HP A14 from a 81 210. I am using an A12 head that is close to
stock and a short 2 1/2 inch header and exhaust.

The car looks a but rough and is in need of paint. It has a few rust
spots but no rust holes. I put an older left fender on it from the
1200 I got from Peter Zekert last year, it matches the paint, burnt
orange. I will start sanding the rust spots today and using sandable
primer to smooth them out.

DIMLIGHTS, what kind of rear end do you have in your 1200 that you
are putting the flares onto? I noticed the disc brakes on the rear,
cool. I have a 1983 MAZDA RX7 LSD rear that I have to weld the 1200
mounting hardware onto before I can out it in. It has about a 3.7
gear, I am not sure of the ratio yet because I haven't taken it apart
yet to look at the insides. It will be next year before I put it in.

I am still in East Tennessee. I will be leaving here next week for
Florida first, I think. My plans are non-existant right now, I just
know that I do not want to be here anymore for a while.

That's about all for today. Be happy everytime you pass by a gas
station, LOL.

Jaime,

This message really got my attention. I Share the same feeling,
Yahoo is falling. Not only in groups, in every service they
provided. I cannot download anymore my email to my personal email
client like outlook or Eudora, I have to pay now for it. Yahoo
briefcase, a place where I had my files, is gone, I can only have
pictures there now, this advertizing mess with windows popups and
huge banners. If they incresed publicity isnt enougf? Why now I have
to pay for services that I had free. Not the way to do it.

But the datsun 1200 community will not fall with it! We have a new

Could be, but I can't do a traceroute either, it ends like this:

12 213.13.138.250 (213.13.138.250) 73.589 ms 3349.92 ms 7.662 ms
13 srp-3-0.cr01pc02.netcabo.net (212.113.172.1) 7.241 ms 7.547 ms
7.21 ms
14 a212-113-172-55.netcabo.pt (212.113.172.55) 7.586 ms 7.654 ms
7.075 ms
15 * * *
16 * * *

And the site works.
It's the same from all the places I tested it. I will check my
firewall rules to remember what I'm blocking.

It appears that netcabo.pt is not routing packets to 213.22.15.82.
Either it or the next server is having problems.

I haven't noticed any DNS problems; it always resolves to the
correct IP. The message is:

Cannot find server or DNS Error

Since the DNS is not the problem, the problem must be trying to find
the server. This is what the trace route shows too ... the hops stop
at netcabo.pt ... the routing stops there, and we cannot get to
213.22.15.82.

Yes, the club should stay together. Let's not give up on the new
site yet. I'm impressed with the new site and new features. Thanks
you Daniel and Pedro and the other founders.

I'm glad message view options are on the TODO list.

If we visit the new site regulary, the "new messages" list on the
home page is helpful. However, ensuring we don't miss a message is
difficult with so many forums. An optional e-mail is one way to
manage this. Another way is to have a view that lists all messages
in order of date (not listed by thread). This could be per-forum or
better yet, show messages from all forums. Again, this would be an
optional way of looking at the messages.

Maybe the new site is perfect for many, but apparently there are
some of us who find it cumbersome to keep up with. Daniel, I think
either of these would be a huge usability and satisfaction win for
those of us who have different usage patterns.

Let's not give up on the new club just yet; if we stay together we

I also have been having problems accessing datsun1200.com more days
than not. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. I'm sure
some people are getting in, however Daniel there is a real problem
affecting us -- and it's not my computer or my browser or my ISP.
Perhaps it is working better for users in Portugal or Europe.

I have tested using two different ISPs at home. Once I tried an
external DNS lookup service, which does a traceroute from various
continents -- all timed out. Further, I try at work over T3 lines.

I either get in, or more often get:

Cannot find server or DNS Error

Ok, it's your opinion, and I respect it. It's not our top priority
for now but it was added to the TODO list.
As for the "you cant always log into anyway" part, the site was down
13/3/2002 due to a DNS error and we had some problems with one member
at the week-ends and some other minor ones. We have ~30 visitors a
day since 18/2 and for the most part it seams to go ok.
Hope you can live with that for a while, the yahoo club didn't had
that feature either for a long time, and the club has to stay
together.

Hi again

sorry to dissagree with you on that Daniel but the reality is that the old club
and its "mailing list" was far better than having to go to a site that you cant
always log into anyway, and secondly, the abillity to see what people are up to
with just checking your emails and if you wanted to follow somthing up then
checking back to the site was for me was a far better option.

   Hi,

Sorry to desagree, but the best way to keep in toutch is login in at
the club, read your personal messages, read the news, comment the
news, vote in the pools, comment the pools, read the forum, post at
the forum, check out the new links, rank the new links, submit the new
links... and search for datto info in the hole club.
More a club and less of a mailing list. We are thinking of having
mail notification for all messages and maybe the rest later, but our
main goal now is getting a gallery runnig.
