Yes, I'm still here.
It's been quiet lately, but I haven't been feeling well. It seems to
have passed a bit.
In the meantime, although I haven't been making major postings I've
been working on Formula 1 histories for every driver who's ever
participated in an event since FIA formed the series in 1950. It's a
lot of information, and I'm not quite halfway through, I'm to 1973.
I've had through 1955 on the site for some time, races and drivers and
season points, and I decided to finish the drivers as soon as I could
instead of leaving some driver histories half done. Many of the early
drivers in the series have been updated already, others have their
information in my master file awaiting creation of their page, and
still others haven't even been seen yet...there's 35 years of results
still to go through. But it's an ongoing process, and I likely won't
be posting every time new files are uploaded.
However, I had to take a break from all that open wheel stuff and add
an interesting chart I created from some information I found in an old
Mercedes-Benz history book. I have posted the original sales records
for what are supposedly all the M-B 300SLs sold in the UK. Which now
includes little flag icons, something I hope to spread around the site
further to add some more color to the site. But the records are at
the bottom of the 300SL page at
http://www.carsandracingstuff.com/library/3/300sl.php
Now that I'm feeling a bit better, in goes the Van Halen CD and off I
go to see how much of that Formula 1 history I can plow through tonight.
