One other thought - you may have to check the shaft lengths to see if there is any difference. The 6hp Chrysler is pretty long, so maybe there is none....
My Chrysler 22 has a 9.9 hp Honda 4 stroke on the original bracket and it works fine. Its an early 80's motor so I'm sure the newer ones are lighter but mine...
