Kelly,
My name is Marie and I live in Modesto.  I work Monday through Thursday every other week.  So I really do have a fair amount of free time.  I purchased a set of the little cones at a sporting goods store and have the diagrams to set up 10 different maneuvers for the motorcycle skills class.  If we would do this on the weekdays, maybe we could find a church parking lot.  The diagrams that I have are for a parking lot with painted parking lot spaces.  There is no measuring to do - seems very easy.  I really enjoyed the MJC motorcycle class that I took with my little Yamaha Vino 125.  These are basically the same maneuvers.
Anyway, give me an E-mail when you are up to doing some riding.  I also just purchased a GPS unit that has head phone capabiiity so that I can listen to a potential route up into the hills.  There are many potential day rides that we could do.  This sport has replaced snow skiing for me.
By the way, I am 58 years old.  My husband and I love also to sail, scuba and he has a BMW 1200LT that we both go touring on.  We joined the Expresso Riders Club.  They have some very nice rides, including some Sunday dinner rides.
     Bye for now...........

One time this group had a meet and greet in Manteca and it went really
well. I regret to say that there are very few posts here anymore.

Where abouts do you live? I live in Escalon and I am a female rider too.
I have another friend in Ripon who rides a smaller scooter and I know
that we would like to do the cone thing. We have talked about it a few
times but just have never done it.

I recently had surgery on my shoulder so I am not riding at least a few
more weeks. But if you would like to contact me via email maybe we
could meet up sometime.

Take care,
Kelly

Here's The First Draft of The Route of the EL PASO POSSE...

It is NOT set in stone, it IS the direct route (for several reasons
of which time will be the biggest). The plan is to start Wednesday,
June 6th at 7 am, and spend at least 15 minutes at each train stop
(BOLD PRINT) up to 30 minutes (will adjust as needed / required).
Also lunch and dinner stops are to be determined, but need to be one
of the train stops. Look this route over and see what you think...
Again, it IS the most direct route which includes 340 miles of
interstate travel, so if you are not comfortable with that, you can
catch the posse at Bloomer or Spooner Wisconsin and travel the next
200 miles plus with us on US 53. Let's have fun!

I'd like to get a head count of those who are thinking of joining the
El Paso Posse anywhere along the route from El Paso, Illinois, to
Mountain Iron, Minnesota. Please either PM or email your name, screen
name, and location. Even if you are not 100% sure that you are going,
just a preliminary headcount. This is to help with the planning of
where and when the posse stops should happen along the way... Thanks! I
will not give your information to anyone...

I'm Dale Peterson, I ride a 650 Burgman EX and really enjoying it. My
wife and I live 45 miles south of Reno, NV. I don't think there are
any scooter clubs here but do have a riding buddy down the road who
has a 650 Burgman. I'm 70 years young and traded my Harley for the
burgman because it's just plain easier to ride, handles better on
these Sierra/Nevada twisties. I ride over the passes to Jackson every
once in a while and enjoy the gold country. See you on the road.

Some pics are from the BARF site and others I took.

There was one Maxi-scoot that joined the ride and gave them crotch rockets a run for their money.  I was holding the back.  God I’m slow.

Wish more scoots joined in on the ride would have made it more interesting.

Hi Bert
I have been to Yosemite a few times. It rained every time. The place is beautiful. The road was good the last time I was there but long and winding up through the mountains. Motorcycle camping is great fun. I did a few multi-state tours back in the 70s and 80's. Mostly California, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. Not to bad if the weather is good. You need a small tent, sleeping bag and pad. I like the self inflating pads. Thermorest I think was the name.  If you plan to cook in your camp, start putting together a kitchen bag with everything you need. It helps when you don't need to remember S&P, cooking oil, extra gas for the portable one burner and all the other things that go into a kitchen bag. A very small rain suit can be handy. I use to keep a cheap polyurethane sweat suit from K-mart for this purpose. For Yosemite you will want good rugged walking or hiking shoes. Most of the short trails are paved but the primitive trails can be long and rugged. I would suggest two nights because there is a lot to see. Reserve America is probably the best way to make reservations and you WILL need reservations for Yosemite. Check availability and set a date during the summer and post it. Maybe you can get something going.

My wife wants to see Yosemite and I would not mind it. We are in Santa Clarita so would probably bring the scoots in the truck with our camp trailed in tow.

Hello all.

I've been contemplating a road trip to Yosemite, since I've never
been there.
I would love to do it on the bike. According to Google maps it is
about 180 miles and over 4 hours away from home.
Would anyone be interested in doing such a ride?
Or has anyone done such a ride?
If you have, would you share your experience, options, or advice on
such a road trip?

Being over 4 hours away and wanting to spend some time looking at
this place, I've thought about staying a night. Motorcycle camping
would be another first for me.
Well camping would be a first. I've had a cab-over camper on my old
truck before, but never camped in a tent, or camp ground.

you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here: http://lebanon.usjc.net/human-buttons.htm

Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially

I'm going to post this all over the place. Reflexes, Burgs, Majs,
Piaggios. Any scooter that is a "Maxi-scoot" whatever that is. We've
sometimes defined it as 250cc or above, but other times just "freeway
legal."

If I get enough response, even two or three more folk, I will get more
info from the parade organizers and see what we have to do. Then I'll
set up a time for us to meet, talk it over and decide.

I've thought of this for the past two years, but finally decided to
try and make it happen.

Reinaldo.

ps. You can get back to me directly at reinaldo@... or
through the group.

Well, I hope you find what you want Bert. I wish wish wish I could've
kept my Maj. But with two kids in college and one more not far behind
it just wasn't feesible. Will you be buying new or used? I am not
really sure what a PC800 is.
All I know is, I am loving my new bike and someday, like you I hope to
have both.

Kelly

Thanks for the link.  I have met Bruce Mann and his '89 PC800 this past monday afternoon.  The know each other and Bruce mentioned Leland.

I've since joined their site.  They seem to be a great bunch.  They remind me of the Reflex group.  Hell!  They even have a Bruce. =p.

I won't be give up my Reflex.  I know that the PC800 will never be as easy to ride as my Reflex. Sorry guys I'll be still lurking around. ^_^.

I just got off the phone with the dealer, he seems to be flexable about the price.
One reason is that the bike is a salvage title.  He said that it came from a dealer trade in.  Since he is a salvage dealer, he has to sell the bike under a salvage title.  The bike have never been downed or in an accident.  They replaced the radiator, front tire, front brakes, and rear tire-used.

I hope to talk him down somemore.

I just love the feeling of the bike and the look.  It looks like a super scooter.

Hi Bert,

If you are thinking about a PC you would enjoy this sight, http://www.directcon.net/lcshepp/lelandspc800page.html . Leland is a California guy who has four PCs and has ridden them for many years. He puts a 30-40,000 miles a year on them, knows them thoroughly and has a lot of rides mapped out. He commutes on one of his four PC800s from around Placerville to Concord (236 miles RT each day.) He has purchased PCs on the East Coast twice and ridden them across the country. He also organizes the The Great Pacific Coast Highway Pacific Coast Motorcycle Year 2006 Motorcycle Ride. His website is a lot of fun and has everything you'd want to know about the Pacific Coast 800.

I will be keeping my Reflex still.  I'm finding that if I had 2 motorcycle/scooter, I can ride still if one is down for servicing or waiting on parts.

There are also more opertunity to join other group rides or outings.

Hi All,

I wanted to check in and say hello as I have not been faithful
lately to visiting this site.

I have done something that you all may find offensive. That is I
have crossed over to the other side and bought a Yamaha Vstar 1100!
I wish I could have kept my Majesty but I could not justify keeping
both and right now I am having a great time riding the Vstar.

Because I no longer have my scooter, I was wondering if any of you
would like to take over as moderator of this group? It is a great
way to communicate and plan rides and it would be a shame to let the
site go. There really is nothing to being the moderator.
Occasionally you have to go in a delete a member who tries to
advertise...but other than that..piece of cake.

Maybe at some point I will be able to afford to have my Vstar and
another scooter. If so, I would like to get a bigger one like a
Silverwing or Burg. Until then I hope one of you might step up and
moderate the group. I would like to stay on as a member because I
have a true passion for maxi scooters.

I sold  my Maj for a very good price to a nice gal in San Mateo who
absolutely loves it. She was riding a Honda Elite 80 scooter back
and forth to work everyday in the bay area. She loves her new Maj.

Anyway, I hope to hear from some of you and hope that you will use
this site to plan local rides.
Take care,
Kelly
