I had the privilege of working on an F350 diesel this week for a cold
starting problem. It seems as everyone forgets that these trucks are
not like the big trucks on the road! These engines are 12:50 or less in
the compression ratio. This means that they need to have the fuel
heated when it gets below 35degrees F. (Or they will not start)
I found his heater system unplugged for some reason and retested the
system to find out the thermostat was not working and keeping the
heater on all the time. This is no doubt why it was unplugged. So the
moral of the story is this I take the time to research what I have too
in order to find your problem. I might not be able to fix everything
but I always give it 100%!
If you own a hard starting diesel truck and you have spent a lot of
money trying to get a cold start issue resolved have them check the
fuel heater system.
I am solving issues one clunker at a time
