There is some play in the steering shaft, by loosing the bolts under the column inside you can move the steering wheel a little and that makes a big difference...
Sounds Like u-joints to me. Do yourself a favor and get good ones. By that I mean not form Auto zone or the like. A good set of Spicer or other quality...
