I figured the breather didn't much matter, but I did change the grommet anyway.  Yes, I did forget to mention, I swapped out the needle and seats and still

I had a similar problem using the blue gaskets, went back to the brown ones and it worked fine... no clue why...

I did buy a Holley specific kit in the hopes of avoiding just such a problem.  I did go through and recheck the gaskets and how the holes lined up and they
