Hi Escalade owners,<br><br>I am new to this board
and did not see this question posted.<br><br>I am in
the process of researching and possibly purchasing 20
inch wheels for my Escalade and was wondering if I can
get some feedback from owners who have 20s on their
Escalade?<br><br>Pros and cons are
appreciated.<br><br><br>Thanks<br>SmitRock
Hey osteomd, the best place for mats, "your local
dealership"! Assuming your Escalade came with matching "capet"
mats, I ordered a set of color matching rubber mats
from my Cadillac dealer. They come in 1 color only but
they fit perfectly & I don't feel guilty if they get
wet or muddy. Also they help provide an extra
protective barrier between your Escalade's carpet and soiled
footwear. They even help protect your Escalade's original
carpet mats. Hope this helps!<br>Sincerely!<br>Asche
<a href=http://www.mats4less.com target=new>http://www.mats4less.com</a> Has
some accessories for the car. I have had nothing but trouble trying to find
much for this car for MY2002. I am sure this stuff will come over time.
Thanks for a pointer to the noise problem, but I
think it may be something else in my case. It never
happens when I'm stopped, only for a few seconds when
accelerating at a slow speed. The dealer was able to hear it
after a lot of road testing, but was unable to pinpoint
the source. I will take it back again if it gets
worse. You are right - I don't expect this for 50K.
I love my white diamond 2002. Had it about 3 mo
now. Haven't abused it but have driven it hard to test
out features. Would definately recommend 2002 with
the new model changes (vs earlier years).
<br>Pros:)<br>+Looks are killer!! Always get the head turns. Color is
step above the rest. Front grille/look matched by
nothing else.<br>+The balls of Christ. 345hp. Serious
power and performance for such a bigg'n. Truly "the
most powerful SUV on the planet". Even sounds bold and
powerful. Have conquered some serious snow depth and
terrain with the AWD. <br>+SMOOTH luxury ride! Quiet,
computerized road-sensing suspension works great, automatic
load leveling control is noticable<br>+Totally tweaked
out - plush interior; classy gauges, bose sound and
11 speakers with separate rear controls; mirrors are
heated and electronically foldable with puddle lights;
ultrasonic rear sensors, Onstar w/ cellphone, heated
front(10-way adjust) and rear seats; info center; sunroof;
climate control; seat&mirror memory; homelink; on and
on.<br>+Still practical - great cargo room, 3rd seat(easy! to
put in and out), heavy towing package, 4yr/50,000
warranty, roadside service<br>+Safe- Ultrasonic Rear
Parking Assist, Onstar, Stabilitrak, traction control,
full-time AWD, ABS, daytime running lamps, front and side
airbags<br>Cons:(<br>-obviously gas milage, but expected<br>-central dash(My
biggest complaint). Position of components bad-
"ultra-premium analog(?)" clock should be higher so everyone
could see it (move clock and info center to top), radio
lower (or better) and closer to cd player, radio
face-plate look is same as many GM products e.g. Cavalier
(Could do a little better upgrade for this price and
luxury level), similar with climate controls appearace,
Onstar closer with improved microphone location (for
phone use).<br>-slightly noisy climate fan? (see my
other post)<br>-less than optimal rear seat leg room
for larger/taller people <br>-hate to say it but
-American made, not quite the fit 'n' finish feel of
foreign makers<br>Other complaints I've
heard/read:<br>-price --Very competetive considering all the options
included standard. e.g. I was also considering a Toyota
Sequoia-great vehicle. Totally loaded (but without many of the
Escalade options and less luxurious) listed for $47k and
less "negotiable" range. Bottom line=if you can't
afford it, don't get jealous and knock it, and don't buy
it (Oh yeah, you can't).<br>-"loose steering"--maybe
a little at higer speeds but get adjusted quickly,
certainly nothing dangerous.<br>-indash gps vs Onstar --
preference<br>-AWD only vs selectable 2wd/4wd --?
depends<br>Overall:<br>I couldn't be happier. I shopped the market hard,
went with this and have no regrets, in fact I'm proud
and in love.
I get a similar noise. More behind the
dash...undesirable fan noise for the climate control. It happens in
only cold weather due to the heater being on (not warm
weather with AC). More noticable at low engine noise
(slow speed, stopped, or radio off). Haven't had it
checked yet because not actually that bad but annoying
considering 50k.
I have now had mine for 3 weeks and I LOVE it. I
have a 98 Suburban that I thought was a nice car. Now
this one blows it away. The ride, the interior, the
pearl white color all good. The only complaint I have
is when I was getting in it in a snow storm yest.,
it dumped snow in the seat due to the curve of the
door. It drove like a dream in the snow too. You could
feel the all wheel drive anti slip working. Go '02 all
the way.
Hey asche,<br><br>I tried the wesite for
Performance Products, but haven't been able to access it yet.
I'll keep trying. Thanks for the heads-up! I'm doing
some searching, but haven't found a site dedicated to
the Escalade. If I find a good site, I will share. :)
This past October, I sold my '99 Durango (5.9L)
and purchased a White 2002 Escalade.<br>I liked my D
very much and would have never sold it had it not been
for an accident.<br>I didn’t want to get another D
and the only other SUV I liked was the
Escalade.<br><br>The most noticeable difference between the Escalade
and the D is the width inside and out. The Escalade
is MUCH roomer in width. The length felt pretty much
the same but the Escalade was a few inches taller
(requiring me to adjust my garage door accordingly). I still
haven’t gotten used to the Escalade mirrors, as they seem
smaller than the D’s (6X9 mirror option).<br><br>The
second most noticeable difference was the overall ride
of the Escalade. I had IAS performance shocks on my
D and it rode pretty firm. The Escalade on the
other hand rides like a sedan, very smooth. <br><br>I
had the folding 3rd seat in my D and found it very
useful. The 3rd seats in the Escalade are heavy (feels
like 50lbs ea.) and not easy to re-attach. I keep them
stored in my basement and seldom use them. I would have
to say this is one of the bad points about the
Escalade.<br><br>I didn’t notice very much difference in
acceleration between the two as they both seem pretty quick.
The difference in gas mileage turned out to be pretty
negligible as well.<br><br>I can’t comment on any other
model years and but, overall, I am happy with my
purchase.<br>I paid $4,500 under MSRP for a dealer demo with 500
miles on it.<br>If you are considering new, check out
the GMAC site at <a href=http://www.gmbuypower.com.
target=new>http://www.gmbuypower.com.</a><br>The
site allows you to request quote and check inventory
for dealers in your area without leaving
home.<br><br>Good luck.
There isn't many products specicly made for the
Cadillac Escalade. Your selling dealer would be your best
bet. If your selling dealer doesn't have any options
availabilty, you're in the wrong dealership(too small
potatos). Seek another dealership, if possible. After
adeptly negotiating a reasonable price for my 2000
Escalade with my salesman, I went next door to accessories
lady who helped me erode my great deal. Yes to the
front & rear brush guards, yes to the Vogue 17in
wheels, yes to the zebrano wood grain dash etc. <br>Aside
from your friendly neighborhood Cadillac dealer, I'd
recomend Performance Products
(www.performanceproducts.com) out in CA. Most if not all the items for Chevys &
GMC will work. I hope this ansewers your questions.
If you find a company that makes items exclusively
for Escalade owners, don't be shy about posting it on
the web page, as othther fellow Escalde owners would
appreciate the kind jesture.<br>Good Luck!<br>asche1959
I Love my 00 Escalade! I haven't been this happy
with a vehicle since my 1987 Buick Grand
National.<br>Its big, large, and very comfortable. I can help my
wife with carpools, if need be & it looks great goin
out on the town. I bought my 2000 Escalade 1yr ago.
With the changing body style, I got $8000 off MSRP! I
didn't opt for the TV VCR because my wife already has
this in her 99 Suburban. This past year I've put 8K on
and to date have had nothing go wrong. The only thing
I don't like about it is the engine seems under
powered in acceleration (255hp). But overall, I'm very
pleased! Hope this helps.<br>Sincerely.<br>asche1959
I sometimes get a low pitched sound, sort of a
groaning noise from underneath my '02 Escalade when
accelerating from a stop or slow speed. It seems to happen
more in cold weather. Any ideas what might be causing
it? Of course, it doesn't happen when I take it to
the dealer.
Hey all, I was a Cadillac Sedan owner for past 20
years and recently switched to a Durango since we
bought a house in the mountains and needed 4X4. It's
okay, but I do miss my Caddy something serious. I was
thinking of trading the Durango for an Esclade even though
I will take a good beating in the wallet. I was
looking at maybe a 99 or 00 if I could find one. Any good
and bad points about them would be
helpful.<br>Thanks,<br>Lucy
I just had Blankenship Aero do a rear spoiler
(color matched) and a wood grain kit that kicks the
others I have seen on the net in the butt. It has 31
pieces and looks GREAT. I have got nothing but
compliments on it. I gave 875 for both installed at my office
in about 1 hr.
I have learned from other boards/forums that the best way to handle these types
of posters is to completely ignore them. This will be my ONLY post ever on this
matter on this forum.
The owners manual says 91 octane or better, so
"fill it up with Premium" will be the phase of the day.
I would think in a low compression big block engine
like this, you will get alot of knocking with regular.
may get away with every other half tank of mid grade.
I am seriously thinking of adding a woodgrain
dash and spoiler from Blankenshipaero I have seen the
spoiler and it looks cool. Getting both for 875. Dont
know if that is good deal or not. The installer says
the wood kit has 31 pieces. I have seen a couple with
19 and one with 22 ($295 not installed) Anybody got
any thoughts?

Ha, ha, you bought a badge-engineered modern-day Cimmaron, lol you paid for a
Cadillac Escalade even though the Yukon Denali is identical and costs almost
$7,000 less, lololololololmfao!!!!
I just ordered my new Cadillac. The dealership
told me they are only making a limited number this
year. I will post the picture of my truck when I pick
it up. I cannot believe I will be driving the same
vehicle as my Father and his father. Who would of thought
that they would make a Cadillac for us younger
buyers.<br>Happy Hilidays<br>Tim
